Could some friendly soul help me? Installation problems

Ahoy everyone..

I haven't played PotC for a couple of months and the game has laid in a corner collecting dust for a while now... Then I decided to give it another go.. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> But to my big disappointment the installation crashed at 49% (I have tried to install it a couple of times, I even tried the cd burner... so don't tell me to try again <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blah:" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> )
This is what happend:

Component transfer error
Component: Main files
File group: App executables
File: E:data2.cab
Error: datafel (`CRC-fel`, Cyclic Redundancy Check)

The cd has some minor scratches(sp?) but they aren't big at all so i don't think that should be the problem.

Is there anything I can do? Perhaps some computer expert could help me out on this one?

Is this the same system on which you had previously and successfully played PotC?

Please list your system specs, as this will give us a head start on what might be happening here.

Lemme see.. I got the following specs:

AMD Althon processor
1.15 ghz
256 MB RAM
And last but not least a gforce 2.. 64mb I think. STOP LAUGHING alright.. I know I know my comp sucks <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Try copying all files manually to the hard drive. If you get a read error doing that, well, you'll know it's not the install program's fault and so it's either damaged CD or hardware problem (or XP issue...)

I tried to copy the files from the CD to my hardware and it didin't work so it's obviously my CD..bah.. I checked with my friend if I could lend his CD but he blocked me from my msn so i take that as a no <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> ..thats a true friend..

Well, can you copy anything else from another CD? Sometimes it's a hardware problem. Perhaps you need an updated driver for your `CD-ROM`?
