Hello, I would like to start by saying that I really like the PotC Build mod.
It's one of the reasons why I started playing PotC again. And I think it's a great mod, it gives a more pirate-like feel to the game.

I have one question/remark. Almost every time I board a vessel the ships surrenders and I can take it.
But I don't have to fight for it, and that's a part of the game I loved; fighting the crew of the boarded ship.
Does this have to do with the difficulty setting, or the morale of my crew and the other crew ?
I hope someone can help me out.

There's a setting like SURRENDER_MULT in BuildSettings.h. Set to 0.0 and you'll have no surrenders anymore.

Welcome & congratulations to a nice name. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":huh" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

Thanks, and sorry but I didn't know that you already had (almost) the same name. I got it from a name generator.

OH NO!!! NOT TWO OF THEM!!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Welcome, Dirty Jack.

Back to the ships surrendering quickly, I used to like it when I'd have to fight through a few decks myself. Even got to the cabin deck a few times. Then suddenly the most I'd have to fight is on the top deck of the ship. The adjustment to SURRENDER_MULT has helped a lot.

Note that when I'm done with the boarding changes, if you fight through to that last deck on the ship, and lose all your crew each time, there won't be enough crew left for both ships to have minimum crew, although there will be enough for at least one ship. If you're able to keep your crew alive, then you should be ok. I'll be tweaking this pretty thoroughly, and there will be some adjustment that can be made by the players.

Welcome Dirty Jack Rackham! If you want your name changed, to avoid confusion, please tell me the name you'd like to have and I'll change it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Ahoy Hook,

What are trying to accomplish when you tweak the baording mod? As you know it has taken awhile to get it working right so I would urge caution.

The boarding mod works reasonably well, but still far from perfect. Hook is trying to make it work entirely properly. Right, Hook?

Working RIGHT? Where is it working right? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Trust Hook on this... he has a good idea of the proper way the numbers should be handled. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

It's not working at all, actually. The crew losses aren't tracked properly, and the way it's designed they can't be. When the whole thing is done, random numbers are assigned to the crews of both ships. They aren't doing rand() calls, but the effect is very similar.

For people who don't like the effect, I'll provide a toggle to go back to using random numbers. I'll bet I can come up with something more reasonable than the game already does. There will be too many changes to simply put a toggle around them, as the whole process is being redesigned. There's a lot of code I'm keeping, but not the code that calculates losses.

And before I release it, it will be working to my satisfaction, through at least 50 different boardings. Hey, when you hire a professional progammer with 30 years experience, you can expect the final product to work. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Hook

Hook are you using the crew moral as part of the HP when boarding? The reason I ask is I don't think it is working properly as it effects other things as well. Also if you have to tweak any other files could you please add them to a readme? I just like knowing when game functions have been changed. Like how the Ironwill perk is now used for hiring crew and there is no documentation on the change.
