Crew recruiting

I start to wonder why there are tripple hammocks for the ships, I almost never get enough crew to get a frigate full to capacity without them. I realized that playing Pirates! gold for a chaange last night, where you often as not can recruit over a hundred men from captured ships - all right, I admit, I don´t play the Windows version, where you can´t recruit more than those alive when the ship is captured and where recruiting in taverns is disabled if you sneak into a city. Nevertheless, I managed to capture the Treasure Fleet off Havanna, and those four Galleons gave me enough crew to attack Havanna itself. And that didn´t happen on my last voyage, when I had a big reputation, but on my very first cruise.

Well, there are smaller ships than frigates and even lesser vessels than ships completely, such as brigs, sloops and pinnaces. They definitely benefit from the triple hammocks.

And you should be able to recruit more than 200 men if you have enough gold and reputation...

I always fitted my Royal Sloop with triple hammocks and maxed out the crew. Makes for a pretty well decked out warship IMHO. Lot depends on what difficulty level you play too. On Swashbuckler level, I lost crew faster than I could recruit, but on the other levels I never had much of a problem once I had established myself. Also, ALWAYS duel with the harrasing captain in the tavern BEFORE you talk to the crew. Seems like you get about 15% more recruits if you do that. At least that's what I found.

Good te see ye back in these here waters Cap'n Toast, wunder'n if anyone still play'n this game,SMP forum been prety quite <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I still pop in from time to time Skull. Good to see you as well.

Much of my time has been taken up with running a Dungeons and Dragons Pirate themed game for my `role-playing` group. We've been having a rollicking good time! I'd forgotten how much fun playing pen and paper RPGs could be. Only problem is finding "non socially challenged" players if you catch my drift. D&D still carries some of those old stigmas with it. Ya know, we're all Satan Worshipers etc...

Keep the wind to your back mate!

Socially challenged,Aye, ye find them everywhar <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> sound like yer have'n a blast <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Oh, I can do that, no sweat, just takes me quite a while of sailing around, visiting every littele town and pirate haven.
What I meant was, it takes a lot longer to get a crew of some size together - which isn´t all too bad, just something that I noticed.
