CUSTOM POTC BUILD MOD Music Pack for CoAS

    Hi all, after being some days reading the Forum about gameplay tips and hints for COAS, now is my turn to offer something in return. In this case is a little change on the music on the game. This is a repack of the good Musics Packs done for the BUILD MOD, so full credit goes to the original authors <img src="http://forum.piratesahoy.net//public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="bow.gif" /> that made the "Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy Music Pack" (wish to put the author´s name but the TXT didn´t mention it, sorry) and Jopie Seethoek for the "Cutthroat Island Music Pack".

    The original music files are NOT overwritten, it adds a new folder 'RESOURCE\Sounds\MUSIC\PotCMovie' that contains all the tracks.

    COAS doesn´t have the POTC option for selecting a music pack from the Options interface, so...
    the original 'music_alias.ini' MUST BE overwritten (as far as I know)
    no problem, I´ve added on 'RESOURCE\INI\aliases' the original one packed as rar, just extract and the original 'music_alias.ini' is restored.

    To Install it you only have to extract this RAR into the main folder of the game (directory where START.EXE is) and only 1 file is overwriten, so you must confirm the overwriting action.

    Somebody should make a thread with links to all the add-ons being made for CoAS.
    If somebody wants to make that thread and keep it up-to-date, I'll get it stickied.
    I won't do it myself though, because I can't spend the time on CoAS and then nobody else (other than the moderators) would be able to update the list.

    Alternatively, CoAS (and AoP) too) should get their own page on the ModDB and people can post their mods there.
    Would be nice to have the Supermod repack easily available too, no? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

    Don´t worry, as I said I didn´t do rocket science with this, just and easy modification on the music_alias.ini with the path of the new ogg files. The work were done by those who compiled the original Music Packs for the BUILD MOD and I have used as "inspiration".

    ...and would be fantastic to see such a post with an index of all add-ons made for CoAS.

    I don´t know much about modding, at least on POTC or CoAS, I made my things for much different stuff like driving simulators as rFactor or GTR.Evolution. It´s easier for me to achieve the correct parameters to simulate a McPherson suspension on the front axle and a double-wishbone at the rear of an rFactor car than all the code of programming of the engine of Akella. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/readon.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="readon.gif" />

    I have also modded the game to use music from the PotC game and movie + Cutthroat Island but I will never upload it due to copyright issues.
    Aren't you afraid of lawyers? Those parasites are the real pirates of the 21. century!

    It's a shame I found out about this site after I manually went through the game renaming choice Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack files so they would play instead of the originals! I'm one of those people who definitely believes that music greatly enhances the gaming experience, and it's nice to have some Jack Sparrow themes kick up when you slice open a spaniard!

    Doesn't the Build mod have the POTC music? If you can't find the file anywhere or reach the creator, what you could do is d/l the build mod, take out the music files and then add them to COAS.

    I might attempt it later today or this weekend. With the release of the COAS CM, making the various music packs compatible would enable them to be included in future releases.

    The PotC music isn't a part of the Build; it's an additional download.
    You can find the files here: http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?/topic/13163-build-mod-files/
    No need downloading anything else. The only thing is that these files are for PotC and not CoAS.
    The mod in this thread was the exact same files, but adjusted to work in CoAS.

    I've already ported the music into COAS, it's currently on the FTP.

    Hello everyone,

    i have a question about changing/adding music to age of pirates 2. I Downloaded the package (http://pyratesahoy.com/coas/Officerpuppy/POTC%20Movie-COAS%20music.7z) from the first post in here and followed the instructions. But i still hear everytime the original music, nothing of the new content. Do i need something else to run mods ? I have the german version 1.3.0
