Hi all. Im a big fan of Sea Dogs and naturaly wanted to get POTC. I did so a long time ago but could never get it to work, so im back onto trying again.

My system is above the minimum requirements and should (wish it would) work. Whenever I click to run POTC everything starts up ok but after the initiating..... etc screen a message appears saying a debugging device has been detected, close it down and restart the game again. I have disabled the machine debugging device and just to make sure, tried it with only the minimum parts of the system running using selective start up. The mesage mentioned before keeps appearing. The game started up only once after I had played about with the system. After a few ours I finished. But after this the game continues to display the same old message again. I dont know what to do about it.

I hope that isnt to long winded an explanation. Any help would be much apreciated.
 
What programs do you have running in the background? What icons do you see in your system tray (lower right corner of the task bar). If you press Ctrl + Alt + Del, you can see what is running in the background.

Thank you for that. They do have the same problem. Just waiting to see if you have to uninstall Nero, dont want to jump ahead and mess things up. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />
 
Quite weird though. I also have a Nero version installed, but neevr had any troubles like this. Is there some sort of Nero fast-burn plugin (or something like that) active in the background? If so, you could try how PotC runs if you turn that off... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
 
I have all kinds of Nero "stuff" on my PC was there when I got it. Will check to see if any of that is running or if there is anything i can do to find out exactly which ones could be interfering. Chances are i wont have much luck but ah well, worth a try.
