Defence of conquered town

Hi, I've conquered Willelmstadt and kept it for me. The problem now is that every more or less 50 days I have to run to it and defend the town from a massive attack by United Provinces. I've done this several times and now this is getting very annoying. How to get rid of these attacks (conquering Marigot too?). Which is the best tactic in order to defend the town? If I decide not to run to the town and let the siege what happens? For sure a lose the town, is there any other consequence?Thx

hey there jmaverick, if you want to stop the sieges, head to any of the pirate settlements for about 2-4 million pieces of eight, you can stop the attacks permanently. Also, to earn the most money, make sure your governor has high trade and leadership. Good Luck!
