Desmond Ray Beltrop

Landlubber
Hi all!
Been playing your builds for years, and only just registered here. So, firstly, i just wanna say, GREAT WORK!
(im learning game programming and stuff at college, so i know how hard it can be sometimes. And, hey, maybe sometime in the future, i can
help you all? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> )

Anyway, i know this is my firsts post, so im a bit embarrased cos its a plea for help, but here goes - i have 2 problems, and i cant figure out what to do.

First off is the main quest, with Natanial Hawk. Ive played to the bit where i have to find rheims, by talking to Desmond Ray Beltrop, but all he asks me if Skull sent me, to which i reply 'Do you kiss your mother with that mouth....' - Nothing about rheims.

Second (but not really that important) is the Elizabeth Shaw quest.
After i speak with the guy in the naval yard about the kraken, and leave, i get approached by two skeletons, who talk to me, telling me Davy Jones wants to talk to me. They then dissappear, and i get a quest update telling me to see someone. I dont see Davy Jones at all.

So i went to see this person, and hes being attacked by two skeletons, i kill them, and then i get another quest update. After that, if i go to sea, and go to 3d mode, it cuts to me standing on the deck, but i cant move.

Now, i know this is an Alpha, and buggy (although still brilliant!) so i thought id just ask - is there anything that can be done?
If not, no worries <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Thanks in advance guys <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

EDIT - Arg, my first post, and i miss something crucial out :p ive got the lastest build - Build 14, alpha 9.5.

Welcome on PA!

As for Hawk main quest, I believe Beltrop should be in Smuggler's Lair on Douwesen (Bonaire) and talk about Silehard and that he can't just let main character to infiltrate Rheims house. Possibly, in that version something went mad because before selectable storylines were introduced there were an effort to write alternative of main quest with Jack Sparrow. Since now that could be done in separate storyline, we tried to rollback changes in "standard" storyline, but it seems that still some things need to be corrected.

Unfortunately, I can't help you mate, because last time I played PotC for fun was in mid 2006 and, frankly speaking, I started to forget about how main quest went. Obviously, I never played any of those additional quests. Hovewer, judging from your description, I think that this second quest (with skeletons and Davy Jones) went properly (? but I'm not sure) until you stuck on ship's deck. In this case I'm sure that there's a problem with a file required for proper loading of a scene. I'll try to check this when I have time, but I don't know when I'll be able to do this.

Thank you for your feedback and bringing those issues.

There's definitly some issues with the standard storyline, though I though I had removed pretty much all Jack Sparrow influences.

I really have to play the Elizabeth Shaw quest again. I once started on improving it, but never finished it.
It was working at some point, but that goes for a lot of the quests that don't work properly anymore now. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

Indeed thanks for notifying us. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Hm, 'tis a mystery and no mistake <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Pirate_kk, the strange thing is, Beltrop is on another island, Granada, i think - I can even find my way to 'Rheims house' on it. After reading your post, i went to Bonaire, and found ANOTHER 'Rheims house' there as well. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I cannot find any smugglers lair though, just a 'pirate fort'.
Im gonna keep trying anyway <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Beltrop indeed should be on Granada, where Smuggler's Lair is. Rheims in fact has two houses: one on Granada and you should be able to "bruteforce" inside to find his diary (by any means necessary) after talking with Beltrop. The second Rheims house is on Bonaire in the jungle, where something will happen in future development of the main quest (I don't want to make a spoiler here). When talking with Beltrop you should be concerned only with house on Granada.

After you leave Beltrop's residence check if there are two guards standing by the doors to Rheims house (first hut on the right when entering into this location). If they are there, possibly you could continue with the quest.

The pirates are there, before and after i enter Beltrop's house. They say the same thing always ' Beltrop gave orders to not let anyone in here'.

Beltrop himself doesnt mention Rheims at all, just asks if Skull sent me, and if he didnt, im gunna be putting my brains back in.
<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> What a nice fellow.

Likewise, the one response i can pick is about Skull. Then the convo ends.

I still cant get into the house at all afterwards. The door is locked, and so is the side entrance.

Ive tried at night, and down the side of his house, but its still locked. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
I dont think the game wants me being naughty and breaking into peoples houses <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Hello I am facing the same problem, no one will talk about Rheims, and you can apparently not get into the hut before you have spoken to somone who says that he is inside.

Not only can you only get into the house at night, but you may *have* to spend the day in the tavern room to trigger it. I spent the time with the barmaid and it didn't let me in. I had to spend the day in the tavern normally (by talking to the bartender) before the window was available.

Yep, you have to choose the "Until evening" option. Depending on the time of day you arrived, that might mean having to rest twice.
