Development Resources

And the friggin' UPLOAD time! That is going H-U-R-T! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

Anyway, in PotC the only option I see is to make all combinations of upgrades a seperate ship type.
You can then prevent those ships from being sold, and make them available through interface/dialog-based upgrade only.
It would be possible, but it'd be an incredible amount of work, with the usual "who's going to do all that?" attached.

At the moment we'd need somebody to go through all the ships and add pennant locators for the DIfferent Flags mod.
That is a LOT easier and a lot less work and for that we don't have anybody either. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

In Alpha 9.5 Patch 1 you can only do this through dialog at the Kralendijk shipyard.
The Development Resources do contain the interface-based version, though these are still only available for internal testing.
Refer to the first post in this thread.

As soon as possible, but not within a month. Again, refer to the opening post. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

And what needs to be done for that? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I think it involves copying the existing flag locators on all the masts of all the ships, renaming them for their pennant counterparts,
and moving the two locators of the flag not attached to the mast to make the pennant longer and more triangular.
Thomas the Terror or Pirate_KK would be able to give a better explanation though.

only longer, triangular can be done with alpha channels.
You should make the flags a bit longer, and narrower.

So Inez diaz tool is needed for this? Too bad it is causing some problems to me...

Even if i specify right path to textures folder, model is still grey, and some other problems with rendering...

The TOOL can only show TGA files and not the game's TGA.TX files, so you first need to convert them to TGA with the TX Converter.
That's one problem sorted. What rendering problem do you have?

Textures were most serious problem, and i am stupid because there are even tutorials for this... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
Those rendering "problems" are caused by resizing and minimalizing of window... so nothing serious...
Is there any tutorial for copying those locators, so i could do it?

Please have a look at the <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?showtopic=13298" target="_blank">Flags on ships in B14A9.5 Development Resources</a> thread. I have just added you to the Modders, so you now have access to that.
It still doesn't contain a proper tutorial on the required locator-work, but it does give you some information.

We'll get some additional guidelines for you done in the near future.
In the meantime, use the GM Viewer with the locator-boxes ticked to have a look at the masts of the Dutch Lineship.
That shows you how the locators are supposed to end up for the pennants mod.
Then open a mast GM file in the TOOL and use View>Locators to see the locators in text-form. That is what you'll need to edit.

1. Always start with shipname_mast1.gm, open that one, click view/locators/view.
2. If you see that there is a flag locator attached to this mast, go to locators/write to file. Then save it under the name shipname_mast1.
3. Go to the folder where you saved the file and open it with wordpad or noteblock.
4. Copy the flag locators (f1, f2, f3, f4) and rename the 'flag' attribute to 'penn' (so if the file says flag2, make it penn2, if it says flag, just make it penn)
5. You can make the flag more narrow by turning up the y-axis of the f4 and f3 attributes, and you can make them longer by extending the x-axis of f2 and f3.
6. Save the file, and exit it.
7. Click locators/read from file and click on the just modified file.
8. Click save .GM

(Do this for all parts of the ship which contain flag locators)

1. To make the game show these pennants, go to ships.init and go to the ship you just modified.
2. Remove the line: refShip.Flags.NoPennants = true;
3. Now change the FLAG_ENSIGN to FLAG_PENNANT for the masts you want pennants on.

refShip.Flags.Mast0.Flag1 = FLAG_ENSIGN;
refShip.Flags.Mast1.Flag1 = FLAG_ENSIGN;
refShip.Flags.Mast2.Flag1 = FLAG_PENNANT;
refShip.Flags.Mast3.Flag1 = FLAG_ENSIGN;
refShip.Flags.Mast4.Flag1 = FLAG_PENNANT;

Ok, by the way there is little CPU usage problem with GM viewer and Fraps <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Do not run them both...

Yeah, I have experienced that problem <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Thanks a LOT, Thomas! Note that to be able to have the game show this, you do need to have the Development Resources installed.

As far as I'm aware, the GM Viewer shouldn't require that much CPU power...? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Yes, but when u run GM viewer with fraps, then it will cause so many errors, that it will slow down computer <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
