Haven't heard of any solution, but I haven't heard of the problem either lately. Maybe something that only certain hardware/software constellations have? Those are the hardest to find <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" />

Pieter's latest modpack includes new interface/fonts by maximus. Have you tried that?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Hello CCC <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Well...

No I have not tryed yet, I wish to solve this issue first, and solving it by instaling a Mod dos not help understand what causes it, nor really solves it permanently...

The Game is suposed to work from the Box anyways...And it has worked fine with my hardware few months ago... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> nothing has changed, it was fine even when I upgraded to GF fx...

So I am trying to pinpoint any software that maybe causing this...

Thank you for the hint however <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I guess i'll <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> for now ...

Alrighty...

Having compared fonts.ini files from other people.

having Used fifferent fonts.ini

And having looked at the texture Logs...

The Files are working, the Textures are loading...

So this is does not seem to be a Loading problem...

Its a display problem, that really buffles...

Something seems to be interfearing...but what may interfear in such a way? :/

Alrighty...

Would like to ask a question here to eliminate a possible factor...

Is anyone runing POTC on XP with DirectX 9c?

In order to view your version of DirectX, click on START then RUN and type in "DxDiag"...it will have the Version at the first Page at the bottom area.

I am still trying to <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> Isolate the problem and <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> a bit <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

I'm using DirectX 9.0c... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Thank you for looking in to it Fellow Sailors!

But....<b>Problem Fixed!!!!</b>

Well...you wont believe this but the problem was indeed a Display problem...

The Video Card Drivers...

Now before you say "Doh!" hehe...this is not something of an easy issue.

I was runing latest Nvidia Drivers...on a Gforce Fx 5200

77.72_win2kxp_english_whql

I tryed during this Ordeal to change them, it was the first thing to try.

Went to..

66.93
65.73
61.77

So after trying 4 of these I somehow went to look for All the others things I looked at, The game itself, the .ini file (I tell you I practically ripped em apart) ...tryed eliminating software I recently installed etc etc etc. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" />

But as I am looking for possible files I may have installed in the mean time, I found some even older driver...decided to give it yet another try. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/type_1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":nk" border="0" alt="type_1.gif" />

So... 56.64_win2kxp_whql

Is what did the trick! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />

That is Display Driver 6.14.10.5664

Under Advanced properties, GForce FX Tab.

Well I am happy! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" /> And posting this here in Case anyone else may have these issues.

And now we also know what is the cause of this very wierd and rare Issue.

Drinks on me!

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

BTW..

Latest Drivers now is 81.85 I tryed it and it does the same problem...At least with my card.

So to get the 56.64 here is the link:

<a href="http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_archive.html" target="_blank">http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_archive.html</a>

It has that annoying Milky Way water however...but I guess the Build and/or GFX_patch fixes it...that was more of a Game issue.

Thanks

Glad you got the problem fixed. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Thanks for the hint <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Must have required a lot of patience to find that <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />
