DirectX8!!???

When i start the game it says its loading DirectX 8 <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

Oh dear...

It's exactly like PotC: setup installs DirectX 9, but program uses DirectX 8. Nothing changed!

for crying out loud, Akella better make a DX9 support patch then, or else Age of Pirates will die an early death, with windows vista and DX10 launching this winter/next year.

Akella, we must have full DX9 support!

It doesn't install DX8, it just says it is using DX8 functions I guess. Even if it did use all of DX9 functionality I'm not sure how they could improve on the visuals any. Speedwise its smooth as glass on my rig.
