Fixed Distance Calculation for Escort Quest Profit

And those amounts are still not profitable?
I mean a merchant carrying such a load shouldnt pay to much now should he... Else he is paying you more then his cargo is actually worth
For me it isn't. I have seen bigger rewards around these levels. Check here.

I think that doing Escort Quests from Sao Jorge to Cuba, Eleuthera, or even Cayman, should have a reward about 10,000 gold or more. From islands that are near each other I can understand the low rewards.
 
I think the largest problem is the distance calculation in POTC.
I beginnig to suspect someone f*cked up the coordinates of towns.
I take the coordinate of the start town and the destination town and calc the distance, but the difference isn't that high. So I guess someone forgot to update those coördinates right.
Maybe I should take a look at island coördinates instead....
 
Does these new fixes will apply to the Beta 3.4 public release that is on ModDB? I mean in general.

And yes, before the public release it was better than now. The thing is encouraging people to do Escort Quests, because people only do it to unlock the first commerce perk. And obviously, the Store Quests must have more bigger rewards than Escort Quests.

I'm reasonably sure that those are correct, because @Armada fixed them all for the new worldmap.
And aren't they used to display the Map Interface properly?

Unless Levis' change to make distance have a larger effect actually turned the pay down.

I use the coords stored in the towntable. There are also coords for the town in the island and they are also stored for the worldmap, and on all 3 places they are different
 
My recommendation would be to use the worldmap ones. Since those are used in several places, they're probably correct.

I have no clue about the towntable ones; they may be stock game coordinates for all I can remember. :facepalm

Well, now the payouts are higher than there was without doing anything; There was a fix that worked perfectly before making the Beta 3.4 public, and then with this public release, the payouts are smaller than the first fix, but bigger than the original ones. I don't know if I have explained well.

But I think that the payouts that are now are not so high as I expected.
 
Must be indeed wrong coordinates being used for the distance calculations then.
The only difference between the earlier fix and the current situation is that distance is weighed more heavily than before.
 
according to @Hylie Pistof they seem to be profitable now so I think we can keep this payment?
Later we could see if we could make a pirate encounter in it or something like that.

I did do one to get the perk. The islands did not match up so I sailed with empty holds, but money is no longer a concern anyway.
 
hmmm...I will still look at it then and make sure the islands add up once the economy is done
 
Marked this as a Bug since most likely the distance calculations use the wrong coordinates for some reason. :modding

The distance calculation is still how you left it, so probably still returning inaccurate values due to the coordinate system being wrong.

Any idea which coörds are right? the ones in the island, or in the town etc.

The worldmap coordinates MUST be correct, otherwise the labels wouldn't appear in the right spots.
I'm pretty sure those are the ones @Armada updated as well when he redid the worldmap.
 
It now uses worldmap coords for the current place and destination. Only thing which can happen if you need to bring a cargo to the town on the same island (but I believe this is checked somewhere else already) it will return 0 as distance cause I just look at the island coords and not the town coords (easier :p).

Indeed I don't think there should be quests to the same Island.
So hopefully this will do the trick! :woot
