DryDock

I would if my programs were working and I had the time. But after the exams are over, I should be able to do that. And the first thing I'll need to do is build the Dutch VOC "Spiegelretourschip" Amsterdam:
<img src="http://www.static-lift.net/~vsshipyard/voc_ship_amsterdam/1.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />
(I KEEP saying that don't I? But I just love that ship. And there's no ship in PotC that is similar-like)

I'm just afraid I won't be able to get her textured so that she'll fit in with the other ships in the game. I am able to do functional textures, but am quite unable to good artwork. You can be sure I'll be requesting some help on that when the time comes...

Ah, she's lovely! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> I am sure that if you ever get this one going, someone will offer to skin her for you, Pieter! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

I sure hope so. I'd just looove to get that ship ingame. With a good skin. If you'd have a look at my previous ship-models, you would find that the textures that look more than just functional are not by me. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Wow...she sure is a lovely ship! You should definitely model ships for PotC...we just don't have enough, and I for one am getting pretty tired of the crappy stock models!

She reminds me of a smaller version of the MOW, actually - with less cannon, of course. She must look wonderful under sail, do they ever take her out?

Mostly they don't, but they do sometimes. Mostly during the Sail manifestation that is held every 5 years in Amsterdam. It'll be held this August, so be sure to be there! Lots and lots of big sailing vessels!
She's a trading vessel, so she shouldn't really be a MOW... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Hey, thanks for the tip! Actually Amsterdam's not *that* far from here (I'm located maybe an hour from Venlo..)
Do they have a website or something ?

Do they have a website or something ?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->Yep. At the <a href="http://www.sail.nl/web/show/id=41138" target="_blank">Sail 2005 Website</a>.

<span style='color:red'>Edit:</span> Now that I've actually had a look at that site, I can't say I'm all too impressed. There's hardly anything interesting up there. I would've at least expected an extensive list of ships that will be there, but there's hardly anything. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />
I'm quite certain the VOC ship "Amsterdam" <i>will</i> be there. She's there about every day of the year, so she'd certainly be there then. The VOC ship "Batavia" is very likely to come over from Lelystad too, though I really don't like her quite as much as the "Amsterdam":
<img src="http://www.cultuurwijs.nl/sites/cultuurwijs.nl/contents/i000891/arbeid_batavia.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

I can also not imagine the city's flagship, the clipper "Stad Amsterdam", missing out on the fun:
<img src="http://www.delfsail.nl/boat_clippernearbyMartiniquesideshot-fotoPieterBrantjes.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

<!--QuoteBegin-CatalinaThePirate+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(CatalinaThePirate)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Ah, I meant the hull shape, actually.  <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->It's sort-of similar yes. Only the MOW is quite ridiculously big-looking, even when they might have been that way (I wouldn't really know), while, to me, the "Amsterdam" looks exactly like an old seafaring ship should look. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

The Batavia looks exactly like a Merchantman or Large Merchantman in Pirates! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" />

Nice pics Pieter! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

<!--QuoteBegin-Inez Dias+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Inez Dias)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Hey Pieter, *you* should have been making their website! But I don't like the overly high stern of 'em. I prefer the Amsterdam-version which is not quite as high and looks infinitly better, especially when seen from up close. How is someone, let alone <span style='color:gray'>me</span>, <i>EVER</i> going to texture that part in good enough detail??? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

I wont be active on fhe forums for a while while i sort out the coding for the dialog files

Just cant get my head round them though

LAi_LocationFightDisable(&Locations[n], true);

n = n + 1;
and am working on quest files and dialog files

So Far my dialog files look like this

string DLG_TEXT[4] = (
"Get lost, if the governer finds you here he'll have your guts for garters!",
"Why what is this pla....",
"JUST GET LOST!!!!",
"OK Im going.",
);

case "getout":

d.Text = DLG_TEXT[2]

break;
}

}

But It Does not wamt to load it

thy guy says something like

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->I Can't load [oxbay drydock_guard.c] assigned to me<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

and im completely stuck with quests

So what i have left to do is

1. Get Dialog working and add:
when quest complete he lets you access his servces instead of ranting at you
which are
a. store ships
b. store cargo on ships
c. board ships

2. write quest which is

when he rants at you it adds oxbay drydock to the quest book and you go speek to the shipyard owner about it
if your reputation is high he tells you (unless oxbay is controled by the french)
to go find the owner (but does not tell you his name), you go to the tavern and learn he left for concicao (and learn his name).
you sail to conceicao go the tavern learn hes upstairs
he tells you he sold it to the govorer, he asks to be escorted to redmond so he can get a deal for you
when you arrive he tells you to meet him in the tavern
then in the tavern he sells you the drydock for 100000.
(this is added to questbook as you go along)

3. modify dialogs for shipyard owner, both tavern owners and create this owner and his dialogs

4. adapet for other possible drydock locations

5. buy 3D editing softwere and make extravigant drydock

Is that the one at the far end (to the right, looking at the town) of the port? I've always looked at that house and thought there should be a way to get in there and walk down onto the beach (that you can't get to otherwise)... Maybe that's a good spot for a dry dock! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
