DXInit The operation is not supported

I just installed the original Sea Dogs game out of curiosity. It launched fine, until I tried changing the resolution from 800 x 600 in the settings. When I did that, the screen went black, and I had to exit from desktop. From that time on the EXE file keeps sending this message "The operation is not supported" (DXInit). I reinstalled it, and still it does that.

I read somewhere that it must be the Intel graphics my computer uses which is causing this. Is there anyway around this?

Unfortunately DGvoodoo doesn't work on Sea Dogs, so unless there is another work around I think you are stuck.
Maybe try playing in the default resolution and see if that works?
Also even if it worked the text in menus becomes quite small on large resolutions.

But perhaps someone more experienced with the game knows how to fix all this.
