edit ship upgrades

pretty straight foreward but it works edit the shipupgrades within the program/scripts/shipupgrades.C file, a great way to upgrade your ship

edit: I just noticed that if you edit to extreme values it does not work, so no uberships this way <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

Edited this shipupdate file but doesn't seem to make any difference ingame. Tried saved and new games.

Also edited some ships speed settings etc but also same prob. No ingame stat change and certainly no affect.

Any ideas?

Strange well i fiddled around with some other scripts so i could have made some changes that has effect on this somehow, i will look back into my files see what i did. discard this subject for the time being... if ive found it i will report back

I have been fiddling around with this since a few days myself as well, and having the same problems with it not working aside for the sails,
its possible to raise the sails to 10 instead of 5 (though it would be nice for it to show up ingame in the upgrade menu as well), but any higher does not give any effect.

As for the hull, whatever i try with that so far does not have any effect, neither in the stats screen for the ship, not when trying the ship itself with the upgrades applied. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" />

I'll try looking at it again as well while i'm at it.

Well none of the ship or upgrade files changes make any difference at all ingame for me.

Let me know how you guys go and if you're successful, please let us know what works.

Have you tried making the changes, then playing a new game? Just changing those files won't effect saved games.

its an init file, so you need to start a new game, been doing that from start on each time i edit something, until i'm done with my own edits i'll pretty much keep doing new game every time anyways

i take it nathaniel did the same

exactly init means it initilize before the game starts, then it's saved in your saved file when u save your game so if u modify an ini file u always have to start a new game because a saved game would read the ini from the saved file and not from your modified file, sometimes it will also help to delete the profile and start a new profile that way your absolutly sure that the saves are flushed.

I think there must be a second file involved with the ship upgrades.

I modded the armor to add +10 speed and turning on Level 3 but it still takes it away even with a new game.
The changes made to the sails and cannons work fine and the increased hp on the armor does too but not the speed.

Any ideas?
