um

err

you're probably not gonna like this, but it is a serious suggestion.

1 ) I'm willing to guess that you are doing nothing that you know of to cause this problem.

2 ) I'm willing to believe that it is happening.

3 ) I'm willing to believe that your game saves are not causing this either.

4 ) No Cause + still happening = maybe not the program that is at fault.

So lets get creative to solve this.

1 ) copy your installed directory

2 ) keep this copy around

3 ) remember to make a safety copy of your game saves

4 ) next time the problem occurs, delete your current game directory (after item #3 once again!!)

5 ) rename the copied directory back to the original

6 ) put back your saves

7 ) power off the machine.

8 ) get a hot cocoa and drink it slowly to enjoy

9 ) start up the machine and game once again.

10 ) make a copy of your game directory again!! as you are preparing for the next cycle of this non-caused error.

I had an error like this, my power supply was slowly calcifying.

Also sometimes hardware simply has a bad day.

as an alternative,

you could skip items 1 - 6 and just power off they system and have a nice hot cocoa while it settles down.

its only this 1 game though here is a website with someone who says somethinga bout it but its tricky

he says
"I have found the source for this probem in this file:
\PROGRAM\CONTROLS\init_pc.c, location World map:
"[Q]CI_CreateAndSetControls( "WorldMapControls", "WMapSkipEncounter",
CI_GetKeyCode("VK_B"), 0, true );[/Q]"

Just above this entry VK_LBUTTONVK_CONTROL, VK_TAB, KEY_W, KEY_S,
KEY_SPACE, etc. are being mapped to my preferences . But VK_B or
WMapSkipEncounter? This do not appear in the game nor i used it. So i
comment the entry with // out and now the game runs fine stable.

Another hint: The game contains hints. I've extracted them, look at www.itai-otakus.de/know/pirates2

bump? it's been down for only a few hours! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" /> i think that it's your computer, not the game.

or it could be from another software program causing the prolb "mcafee" etc isnt there some sort of patch for the game??

Nevermind........ <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

actually, i can't understand what you are saying. from what i can understand it, no, there isn't a patch, and i don't think that there are any programs that could cause the problem. why don't you just follow the advice?
