Ensigns?

I recently noticed that the Light Frigate (model 2) has an ensign flying from the back of it. Naturally this thrilled me. But, why do the other ships have no ensigns at all. Why does a light frigate (or super corvette if you wish to call it that) have an ensign but bigger, stronger more powerful ships don't. Moreover, why is the ensign incorrect? Really, this is a British flag:

and this is a British ensign

Is it not possible to have a nation's flag flying from your mainmast, and the proper ensign on the stern?

All ships use the same flag files. If the Light Frigate 2 has the ensign, so do the other ships. Most original ships don't have large flags at their sterns, but most newly added ships do have them. It depends on the ship whether they have a big flag or not. Big flags can be added by adding some locators to the modelfiles.

Read this (scroll down to history section): <a href="http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/gb-enshs.html" target="_blank">British Ensigns</a>
The 'correct' ensign is determined by what period you are talking about (which itself has been a subject of considerable debate in regard to the stock game and Build12 onwards) and the rank of the chap commanding the ships or fleet. The Union flag you have shown dated from 1801 onwards when St. Patrick's Cross (the red diagonal or saltire) was added to the pre-existing union flag dating from the 17th century. Thus British ensigns will have a version of the union flag at the 'hoist' quarter canton of the red, white or blue flag.

There are any number of threads looking at flags, try searching for 'em.
