When i try to play potc (build 13) i get this weird error.
Look at the attachment for a screen.
It worked when i just installed it, but then after i modified some things in the BuildSettings file and tried to start it again, it didnt work.
Someone please help me out here =/

TY for the fast reply.
Uhmm... tell me what ya want to know exactly..:p

EDIT: here are some.

Manufacturer: MEDIONPC
Processor: Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 3.20GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 1024MB RAM
Hard Drive: Umm...:p
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6200
Monitor: Plug en Play-monitor (SamSung SyncMaster 710n)
Sound Card: C-Media Wave Device
Speakers/Headphones: Logitech premium USB Headset
Keyboard: Stock one.
Mouse: Logitech G5
Mouse Surface: Wood lolz
Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254)

I figured that it might work with the stock BuildSettings file, since it worked the first time i tried to play it(right after the installation), but then i edited the BuildSettings file, and launched it for the second time, and it didnt work o.0

1. The file you changed was the buildsettings.h file and not the buildsettings.c file, right?

2. What changes did you make in the buildsettings.h file?

3. What program did you use to edit the file?

Edit engine.ini and set
tracefilesoff = 0

Try to run the game and after it crashes, post the system.log, error.log and compile.log created in the POTC directory...

or, re-install the build.

Hi, I'm having the same problem so I'll post what I get, so it can be cross-referenced and see if each case is individual or unique.

Contents of Error file:

COMPILE ERROR - file: seadogs.c; line: 36
can't load file: NK.c

------------------------------------------------------

Contents of System file:

Scanning modules\
Loading modules...
Loaded 0
Reset...
Initializing CORE...
Creating atoms space: 128
done
initializing complete
User Rised Exception
C:\PROJECTS\DRIVE_V2\ENGINE\SOURCES\Core.cpp line 526
fail to create program

--------------------------------------

No compile file created.
Hope this helps, I really wanna play Build 14. xD

Apofis, you're using Build 14?

Weren't you already able to play POTC with the build mod?

Form your error.log I gather that the NK.c file, which should be in POTC's root directory, is missing.

Yes, I and my friend decided to upgrade the game to build 14, with the update (2).

Build 13 worked "perfectly". But with build 14 + Second update the above occured.

So is it possible to get this file? Or do I have to reinstall? Or something else?

Thanks in advance. Hope this has halped. =P

Oops, mad a mistake.
NK.c file should be in your POTC\Program directory.

Anyway, it should have been in your Build 13 version and I don't know enough about Build 14 to know why you don't have it now. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Here is my NK.c zipped

Thank you Petros. Once again you are an infinite source of knowledge and wisdom, and helpfullness. =]

However I got Build 14 to work with update 2! ^^ The reason why I got the error, and the cause of the absent file was very simple, basic, a major over look on my part, and VERY embarassing as it was something so simple.

If you really need to know I will tell you. I suspect that Killablade didn't make the same *mistake*, but he just might have.

I just hope he hasn't and that there is a genuine cause for this... xD

Forgot to install Build 13 inbetween or something? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />
Just to remove any worries: NK.c is there in Build 14 as well. Even moreso: I added the GiveShip2Character function to it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

To KillaBlade: Did the game work before installing Build 13? Also can you <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=9234\" target="_blank">enable error</a> logging and tell us what you get in compile.log, system.log and a possible error.log?

Actually I wish he did make the same mistake.

Then there would not really be a problem to figure out or fix! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

Sorry, Petros. I haven't been reading all posts due a major lack of time on my part this week. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
