i keep fight fighting to increase my melee but it keeps saying no fencing skill added, it gets so annoying when i try to increase my melee

Which modpack version are you using? Sounds like one of the earlier Beta 2.5 Test Versions. That log message was in there for testing purposes.
We managed to fix that problem in here: http://www.piratesahoy.net/threads/build-14-beta-2-5-internal-release-available.20593/
