fencing videos, one on one

For fun I will post some fencing videos , one on one.
I don't want to say that I'm very good at fencing, and it took a couple of tries to win those fights without getting hit.
It's about reflexes, hand brain coordination and also involves a bit of luck at guessing oponent moves.

Simple fencing - only fast attack used (and parry).
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3Rno4M5lYU" target="_blank">fencing simple</a>

Medium fencing -
using full range of simple attacks - fast attack a lot, medium fast several hits, hard hit once as finishing move

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hy_OZVB3Rg8" target="_blank">medium fencing</a>

Don't you think that you should slightly increase the level of difficulty? It looks like a slaughter of the innocents.

I play on Corsair or smth. - ~2 levels above medium.
I find it hard enough as it is.
I mentioned that it took me a couple of tries to get it perfect. So usualy I do get hit a bit - like if I hurry and not concentrate on the fight.
Also , the skeletons on the difficulty I play are damn hard to kill , almost impossible - I do 3-4 damage to them with italian rapier.

Believe me it's pretty damn difficult - the game sends 6 ships fleets(2 battleships/warships , 2 frigate,2 heavy galeons) after me when I'm in a corvete(my only ship, not the war dog) because I sunk a couple of their smaller ships before .And me being only lvl 12-13.

Also when the bounty on my head reaches >60k every time I moor I'm greeted by an army(6-10) of cuthroats :

"Don't you know there's a price on your head - well, we do !"
"You run fast cap but you can't escape us!"
"Ah. ma boy, you're just what the doctor ordered!"
...

My officers are getting slaughter as chickens ...
Whatever you may think , that's difficult enough for me ,at least for the moment. And I do find a pleasure in raising talented officers and see how they develop - so I will finish a game at this level.

It should be obvious that's not and easy difficulty on the videos - the guy almost has 3 lives , he restores health very quickly , I think he's full of rum/potions.

LE: corsair is 1 difficulty level above captain (considered medium).

Ok, i know that the game in some points is hardly disbalanced.
I wanted to tell you that _these_ fights seem pretty easy. If you could increase the difficulty to demonstrate a fight it would be more spectacular. That was the idea of my previous message <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I just tried fencing one on one on impossible ( the hardest) and it ain't that difficult.
But is not fencing I'm concerned of but the other aspects like poor officers ai and lack of strategy in fights ( both melee or naval), complete lack of any ideea of formation.
My officers go berserk to the enemy and I have no option to organize them, they die faster then myself alone.
I considered the gameplay and I chose this difficulty as optimal to have an enjoyable gameplay.

Here it is , started a new char on impossible just for the movie.
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZY-EyEI8wI" target="_blank">fencing on impossible</a>

Not a big difference form other difficulty levels. And I had no skills at all.
And a poor weapon that stolen from a house in town.
To bad I don't know how to display the difficulty settings to show them in the video so that there will be no doubt.

If you time it right you can shift+dodge power strikes without having to jump back and then get back into the fight. I've done it before and it even works when surrounded.

I'll try that, thanks for the tip.

This is what I do, but the main reason is that I cannot walk back/forward like he does in the clip. I don't know why, but when I walk back in battle, it makes one leap backwards and that is it. There is a small delay before I can take another action. In the clip he move back and then forward in time to get a hit in while the opponent is still recovering from the missed power strike. I find it impossible in my game.

redCorsair, did you mod anything?

full 100% original game.
try harder, you'll manage to get used to it in the end.
I've done a lot of training <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />.

You're probably moving back while holding space or shift, which does a dodge. Let go of the key the moment you see him prepare and move backwards <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />.
