Finally a patch, but useless!

Just logged onto the site, and was overcome with joy to see a Pirates! patch listed. Downloaded it `lickety-split`, only to find it fixes a problem some people are having with the DVD version, and nothing else. Aaarghhh!
Is this the patch Chronowerx says rewrote a major portion of the code, forcing them to rewrite the Master Trainer program?
I wouldn't think so, especially for something that only fixes a DVD problem.
I have a bad feeling that there won't be anything else official forthcoming..
Well, until Chronowerx's new trainer is available and things like the `God-cursed` dancing can be bypassed, Pirates! will gather dust on the shelf along with other could'`ve-been`-greats like Cutthroats!, POTC and Port Royale... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />
 
I think Fred Bob on Cutlass Isle pointed out that this particular patch that's surfaced was actually released only 7 days after the game came out.

I theorise that It's not been publically known, however, and Firaxis/Atari have sent it only to those who have complained about problems with their DVDs.

Therefore, I dare to hope that they are working on a real gameplay patch even as we write...

Really nice PR move by Firaxis and the whole bunch.
 
Well, rupert, I've been called too optimistic before, but I like to keep up a positive attitude... At least until my hopes are officially crushed...

I admit, though, that despite my optimism, I will not be too surprised if the final word is that there will not be a real patch for the game... But I still remain hopeful!
 
The rock solid rumors are that the real patch is being tested for real.

Maybe next month. Or so the rumor goes.

Until then it is great fun kicking this current patch in the teeth.
 
Well, so far the rumours have come from individual posters and nothing official has been heard from anyone at Firaxis. I must say that I'm not considering anything "rock solid" before I hear an official word. Still, I'm hopeful that the rumours turn out to be true...
 
Am not sick of the game yet .But am waiting for a patch.
have played this game when had the original many moons ago
Stil think was ahead of its time back then, just having the freedom todo what you want. Not just what most games make you do.
roll on the patch.

Well...chronowerx says that there will be a patch. There dang well better be or I will do this to the people at fireaxis:

There is a parrot in the current store bought version of Pirates!

You can see the Firaxis Parrot animation in the current version of the Parrot mod. (v 2 and in v 3)
