Fixing the Capture Screen!

Alright. After hours of searching and playing around, i have found the files that allow me to moddify the Interface screens. Plus, the one that people have complained about, The Ship Capture/Plunder screen <b>when using SuperMod w/ all updates.</b>

People say it looks like this:

<a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=938" target="_blank">http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php...post&id=938</a>

When it should look like this:

<a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php...post&id=651" target="_blank">http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php...post&id=651</a>

Well like i said, ive found the files that moddify that interface.

Ransack_main.ini < is one of them.

I need a copy of <b>ALL THE INTERFACE INI FILES </b>from the <b>ORIGINAL(NON SUPERMOD)</b> game. With that, i should be able to pinpoint it and fix it to how it should be.

So, if you have the files i need, please send them to me. Send me a PM and ill give you my email address to send them too.

<b>REMEBER I NEED ALL THE INTERFACE INI FILES!!!</b> They are located in >>> <b>C:\Program Files\Playlogic\Age of Pirates - Caribbean Tales\RESOURCE\INI\interfaces</b>

I wanted to reinstall the game anyway for various reasons, so first I reinstalled from scratch, installed the official 1.50 patch and copied a bunch of files to a safe place, then uninstalled, reinstalled from scratch, installed the Supermod plus updates, and copied the same set of files. And then I had a look for "Ransack" files.

As far as I can tell, "Ransack_main.ini" is the same in both version 1.50 and Supermod. I haven't looked at them in detail, but they're the same size and date.

The same is not true for "Program\interface\ransack_main.c". The Supermod version is significantly smaller. So I copied the 1.50 version into my installed game directory. And it worked! The capture screen now appears as shown in <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=651" target="_blank">http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php...post&id=651</a>

The smaller version of "ransack_main.c" appears in Supermod update 4. Now, there may be a reason why it was made like that; copying the 1.50 version may end up breaking something else. But it definitely does fix the capture screen.

I did. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> But, since Bandit_Maveric_91 had started this thread specifically to look into the capture bug, and since his message led me to find what appears to be a solution, I thought it only polite to answer here, too. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

Ah, so my theory did work! This is what i did. i found this at the very end of the rain_sack ini file:

[MW_STRINGS]
string = #Prendre Boulets de canon: 0,font:interface_normal,pos:{283,276},fc:{255,255,255,255},bc:{0,128,128,128},scale:0.85,state:{LS}
string = #Donner Boulets de canon: 0,font:interface_normal,pos:{283,293},fc:{255,255,255,255},bc:{0,128,128,128},scale:0.85,state:{LS}

When i changed it to:

[MW_STRINGS]
string = #Take Cannon-Balls: 0,font:interface_normal,pos:{283,276},fc:{255,255,255,255},bc:{0,128,128,128},scale:0.85,state:{LS}
string = #Give Cannon-Balls: 0,font:interface_normal,pos:{283,293},fc:{255,255,255,255},bc:{0,128,128,128},scale:0.85,state:{LS}

it changed the weird language to English. So thats why i needed a copy of the original so i could look more into it and see how to fix it, without making buggs.

Strange. I haven't changed "ransack_main.ini", I've only copied "ransack_main.c" from the one copied from the version 1.50 installation, yet it displays the correct item. (By the way, the "weird language" is French. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />)

Presumably "ransack_main.ini" sets up the initial string, the version 1.50 "ransack_main.c" then changes the string to whatever is appropriate, and the Supermod "ransack_main.c" leaves it alone.

You have mail. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
