Flag Making tips..help?

I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to make my flags look like they are actually made of cloth like the default flags in the game.

I have Adobe PhotoshopCS as well as Paintshop Pro 9.

I've placed a file called Flag_Template.jpg in the root of the SMP section of the PA FTP.
What I do (in Photoshop) is:
Do the flag.
Add a new layer above the flag set to Multiply at 100% opacity, fill it with RGB 249,250,237. Then add a new layer above that, set it to Linear Burn at 75% opacity, and paste in the flag_template image.

I saw that tutorial as well on the CutlassIsle/Hooked on Pirates site.Thats what got me interested in trying my own.
