Fort Mod Idea

Won't it be cool if you also can fight agains ships, while you are in a fort!!

Let's say that is will be a bit the same as on a ship... like looking around but no movement.. and walking over the fort (only on top!!)
but there will be no auto-aiming... You MUST aim yourself (or you put that off)

How fighting in a fort????:
1. you get a atacked while you are in a city of yours.
2. you get a message of a king/queen who wan't YOU as fort-commander, so that you can be send a message if they need you.
3. you get a message of you're fort-commander in you're fort/city. which says that they are been atacked and that they need you in the fort as commander.

What if you are a fort-commander of a queen/king:
1. if they crush you, first you fight in the fort (if win there, their ships will fled. if lose there look---->)they deside about you:

A=You fight agains one of them, if win you may go with you're ships, if lose....well ur dead (that belongs to the survival rate).

B=You are a very well fort-commander and they want you as their fort-commander. if yes, you are a fort-commander of their nation...if lose: look at A.

C=you are lucky and you and a few of you're men (enough to set sail on a ships) can get away into the jungle, where you will meet an merchant ship on a shore, whith them you set sail to another island where you will be dropped with ur crew.

2. if you win...Well, their ships are being sunked, there will be some rowboats send to them, to pick up survivors and stuff. And if you are lucky they will bring an officer, which you can hire (or ransom them, it's like ships to ship, where you get a prisoner. Dunno anymore how that was exactly)
And sometimes a ship will get away, you can choose then to get him or leave him.

What if the fort which is been atacked is of yours:
1. if you lose, you fight in fort and town. (if win, they fled. if lose----->)you will meet their Captain in the residence...Because you are higher in rang then him (or something like that, dunno) he will let you free(That's Always, because you already losed a fort and city, you won't be killed)and further the city will be given back to them (because if you have a fort/city which was from france, the france will attack you to get it back. so also with english/spanish and so go on)

It would indeed be cool, especially in relation to the Capture Colonies mod, but I haven't got a clue how it might be possible. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />
 
That would require changing all fort models to have "deck" with a targeting circle (as in ships). I think that fort_path.gm file should be made for every fort model in RESOURCE\MODELS\Islands\* folders and its reference properly added to each RESOURCE\MODELS\Islands\<island>\<island>_fort.gm file. On top of all of this, I suspect that it would require quite a lot of changes to the code to take into account that player is loaded to sea on quite unusual "ship", which can't sail. I can't even say now if standard battle interface will display gun's status or if command "fire cannons" would work at all. That's only my initial considerations, but it seems as quite a lot of changes with poor chances to make it work.
