Frustrated

kekuschel

Landlubber
I for one can not wait for this patch to come out in the hopes that it would make the game more stable. I cannot play the game for more than 20 minutes or so at a time before it crashes. My PC is more than capable of taking the game, and even still I've lowered my settings to get it to hold steady. I am quite frustrated in that simple mistakes are still to be found in a 1.41 version of the game, such as that you can't sail away from an adversary and that you can't play it for more than 20 minutes at a time, or that swords are gravely historically off, etc. But what can I do? I do so love the genre and will continue to play and buy future games. I do not mean to undermind the efforts of the makers. I simply carry hope that someday there will be the perfect pirate game with as much historical value as possible. I do want more than to simply rant, I was wondering if anyone has had more success than I with this dilemma? Much appreciated.

You make it sound like there are 100000 problems but in reality you only state 2 problems 1 of them has more to do with your ability to sail then the game. I can sail away from an enemy no problem, i did that alot durring the first part of the game because i put everything to normal and turned all the easy mode settings off so engaging in combat for me was not an option at first. The crashing is going to be fix monday (or so they say) however I do not crash to often, i do crash but it just isn´t all the time.

About the swords, you have to remeber there is an RPG aspect to the game, if they were to make it 100% real then 1 shot point blank from a gun should do the job yet it doesn´t. In all honesty later on in the game I think the swords do to much damage because now when I fight I just shoot them once with the gun, do a big swing and the fight is over. When i was only level 2-3 I had to do a bit of running around the cabin to pull off a win when i boarded people.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> I've only played the game once and that was more than 3 hours and no crash at all.
It sounds like to me that you have too many background Applications running!
My install is on a spare harddrive which is not connected to the net and has not any
Firewall, Anty virus or any startup Programs installed.
My computer is not the latest either:
It's a Pentium4, 2.4 processor, Ati 9600 Vidiocard and 1GB ram!
Happy AoP and may the STARFORCE be with you!!!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" />

This game is full of "features" such as:

1. Using the "take all" button=heavy overload to say the least.

2. The "random" CTD:s

3. Enemy ships just sitting there allowing me to bombard them without resistance.

4. "Lost" functions of banks, brothels.

Running it on: AMD64 4000+, 1GB RAM, ATI X850 256MB

Well sir there is plenty that I can list that I personally find wrong with the game and that I have concerns with but didn't want rant and waste your time. Nor do I want to take away from the people who have worked on it and cared about the game. In my opinion there are enough role playing shoot em up games out there, would it be too difficult for someone to make just one a little more historically based or do a little bit of research?

What I mean by the sail away has nothing to do with my personal ability but with the option, if they have it, it should work - right?
