Getting into trouble

Is there a way to find out who currently owns an island other than landing there? I haven't played the modded version long, but have run into problems when landing or entering harbors.

I don't know if the islands change hands due to non-player action (wars) or not.

If the French own a place, will they always? Any way to know which nation starts out owning which places?

I know about Oxbay and Redmond, but the new places added by modders?

Maybe this will assist you.

New Islands:
Antigua Island - Nation of England
Cayman Island - Nation of England
Cuba Island - Nation of Spain
Guadeloupe Island - Nation of France
Hispaniola Island - Nation of Spain
Saint Martin Island - Nation of France
Turks Island - Pirate

The islands will always be held by the current nation.

Hope this helps.

On Hispaniola there are two towns: Santo Domingo belonging to Spain and French Port au Prince. There's also a pirate settlement, Tortuga (small island on the north).

might seem a stupid question, but tortuga is a pirate town, right? i've heard rumors that it's french. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":huh" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

These rumours are false. In reality I think Tortuga did have a French governor, but in PotC it's a pirate island.

it would be stupid if it wasn't. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> glad it is. well, except for the fact that the fort is so bloody big. i noticed something strange: last time i hoisted the jolly roger (in the relations menu!) the pirates still attacked me. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> i'll see if it happens again.

If you are not actually a Pirate, then the pirate flag is a false flag.

Sometimes enemy don't fall for the ruse.

I'm guessing as your relations with Pirate Nation get really bad, it will get even harder to fool them.

what if you use 'hoist flag'? does that work? by the way, i turned off the chance of being discovered. might turn it on some time.

Wow its a tough fort for a bunch of Pirates...Thats most likely why the game crashes though..I dont think Pirates were ment to have forts.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> you could be on to something there. but what do i know about this. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> 70 cannons is indeed much. but they have to defend themselves against a lot of enemies, so i'll forgive them. i'm glad that you can join the pirates in QC, so you don't have to blast a fort to shreds first.

I only started destroying them all the time becuase evert time I would try to dock they would shoot at me ....I was like WTH ??? Becuase I was under the portugese flag with a Portugese LOM....and I THOUGHT they were French!

But I did find it ODD when I blew the fort to bits and landed troops I wasn't fighting the blue jckets...

Meh...so Now I guess I just kill the fort get the exp...and dont sack it.

Until someone figures out how to fool the game into not crashing .
