Hard Question To Ask

Hey all, as you may have read in my last topic about me not being able to Download build 11 because of my computer needs to be repaired. Well seems like I won't be able to repair it for quite awhile since money and time issue and such.

Well let me get to what I am about to ask, and trust me it isn't easy, I was wondering if anybody could wire me the build 11 files and updates through an attachment in email? If you could I would be grateful for ever.

These are awfully big files, will you be able to get them through your AOL account?

If you can pick up these files via email, why wouldn't you be able to download them yourself? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
 
If they are sent seperately then I could get em' through AOL.

And yes I know that is the weird thing, I can Download .zip, .rar, and files that come through my email, but all else can not be Downloaded off of Webpages. Im not to hot with knowing what kind of virus or something else , is the matter with my computer.

To be honest, if your PC is somehow infected with a virus, it's not the best advice for anyone to go emailing you as their email address will then reside on your PC, and may end up getting inadvertently added to spam lists and the like.

Also, as Cat has asked, do you have over 20 MB storage limit on your AOL account, or are you expecting to be emailed only a few files at a time, collect them, and the get a few more sent unti the whole lot are down?

Yea I guess I never thought about the person be added to a spam list. I suppose im going to send in my PC when I go away, thanks anyway though guys!
 
good luck getting yoru comp fixed! if you still can't d/l, i'll be glad to try and send you the files (just check if there's a virus plz...though maybe my `anti-virus` can stop emails (supposedly deletes infected mail automatically..... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":huh" border="0" alt="huh.gif" /> lol)

What if someone were to download the build and patches, zip them up into a ZIP or RAR file and upload them to the PotC FTP site, could you download the ZIP/RAR file from there?

I tried too, but I couldn't upload anything at all. The build plus all updates is almost 50MB; that's a rather hefty upload. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock:" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" />
 
WinRAR will allow you to archive large chunks into smaller ones - so you can make several smaller archives that can expand and be put together to form one large install - perhaps that would be the way to go.

Don't worry about uploading about me though, I'll be getting my computer fixed in july, so until then I'll just play Port Royale, or Continue with the PoTC main quest. I also believe that one of my friends might be able to send the files through different emails, so either way I am good. But thanks alot anyway guys, you've been great!
