Having problems installing POTC pls help

hi. I am having problems installing the stock game of POTC. I am getting a data error:

Could some one pls help me with this cause i don't want to buy another copy of POTC(which is rare to come by these days) or else upload the file data2 from disc 1

I would be immensely grateful if you pls help me

A CRC error usually means your CD is shot - is your copy one of the originals, or is it one that was a Ubisoft budget re-release?

You can tell by if the CD label is in black and white or colour.

Any idea how i fix it?This has happened to me before and I Borrowed a Friends but now his isn't working too
 
You could maybe try cleaning it (I'm not sure on how you do that, but there's kits for CD and DVD cleaning in most department stores). You could also take it somewhere and have it resurfaced, which involves grinding off the top layer of the disc (it's what places like EB Games used to do when they still sold used PC games).

My guess, though, is that it won't help.

There are other ways to get a replacement copy, if you get my drift <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />
 
Tried what you said already and didn't work lol

And i get what you are saying.It is just that i have no time to get the whole game if someone just uploaded data2 it would be better
 
feh. try 'thepiratebay'. being such a big file, it should come in two parts, especially since it came with two disks.

I will try but can anyone just upload their data 2 file? I have experience in putting games together.I have done it before.
 
[maffia accent] we'd have to use filefront. we're no moderators, so we can't upload files bigger than 500kb. and i'm pretty sure it's bigger. i wonder how big the file actually is.

Hi people, Sorry to piggy back like that, but I too have just reinstaleld th egame (went fine) and would like to give it another shot. Which is the best sod pacl for me to use - I want the most playable but also fairly recent, I understand build 13 is from february 2007...? Also shoudl I install any updates if there are any?

Please advise thansk!
 
I recommend trying to install the game on a different computer and see if that works. If it does, it's no CD issue. You can then take the installed game's folders, put them in a ZIP, burn them on a CD or DVD and extract them on your regular computer and play without needing to install anything. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
