Can someone make a pinnace bowspriet for the arabella??

i´m to stupid for this <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

i want something like this:

The bowsprit, just like all other masts, are separate gm models attached using locators.

Have you looked at the bowsprits used by the other POTC ships?

sure. the problem is that a piece of the mast a piece of the model is.
and the angle/diameter are not the same.

i´ve tried it with 3d max (three masts to one) but my knowledge in modeling is not so good. the texture is not 100% visible.

where is the error??

1. 3ds max- i´ve mod my bowspriet ! (orig. mast1 + bowspriet top mast from a pinnace)
texture and coordinates are there.

2. export as wrml

3. open wrml with the tool. some face are transparent and texture coordinates are shifted.

<a href="http://imageshack.us" target="_blank"><img src="http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/8801/75297303up3.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /></a>

4. invert texture with tool. texture is right but some faces are transaprent

<a href="http://imageshack.us" target="_blank"><img src="http://img127.imageshack.us/img127/7917/90223791ts7.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /></a>

WHYYYYY ?????

The only thing I can say is that the tool is strange that way.
Sometimes the texture doesn't look right in tool, but will look right in gm viewer and in the game.

In Game it looks like the view in tool.
i dont know why, but Tool doesn´t function on my PC.

If I may...

I haven't used Tool but I have seen that problem before in other 3D software. The problem comes about because most polygons in a model (unless they are double sided) are only visible from one side. This can cause some "invisibility" issues when the wrong side of a polygon is facing out. Just looking at the screen you posted of Tool I could make two possible recommendations: Either uncheck "Invert Texture" or check "Reverse Normals" and see what happens.

EDIT: Sorry I got a little itchy on the "post" button. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> If neither of those options work, reopen your model in 3ds max and select each of the faces which are "invisible" and there should be a way to reverse normals or textures on either those faces or the individual geometries. I really hope that makes more sense to you than it sounds like it does to me. *sigh*

In anim8or, the program I use for 3D modeling, when you look at an object in wireframe view the surfaces all appear either red or green. The green faces are the ones visible to the camera, while the red faces are facing the wrong direction, so they are invisible to the camera. I imagine this is where your problem lies.

It's hard to explain. Imagine you make a cube, and you can see three sides, the ones that are facing you. The top, front, and left side, we'll call them. Then you take the top off, and all you can see is the front and right side. You should be able to see the "inside" surfaces of the back and left side, but you can't, because that's how one-sided surfaces work. The ones that aren't facing the camera are "invisible". Basically some of your polygons are "facing the camera" and so they are visible, but some are not, so they are not. You need to get them all facing the right direction.

A bit long-winded I know, but hopefully you can make heads or tails of that. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

thanx for you reply.
interesting name you have <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

i will try it

Try and "reset the X-form" in 3DS MAX. I've also sometimes had deformations and other weird stuff on exported models which could be fixed by doing that. That was for <a href="http://www.avsim.com/vs" target="_blank">Virtual Sailor</a> though.

i´m too stupid. can someone make it for me?
I´ve upload the file.

<a href="http://rapidshare.com/files/89987314/mast1.zip.html" target="_blank">http://rapidshare.com/files/89987314/mast1.zip.html</a>

geeee, that model is a mess, 274 double vertices <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Kaz is most definitly right with the one-sided faces, flipping the black parts should solve your problem. Had to do the same thing with my ship project and went nuts over it.

funkt doch!!

yup, bin stolzer bayer <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

A fett´s servas aus bayern z´ruck <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

He, ich model erst seit einem monat, so viel werd ich Dir ned da erklären können <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
Aber Kenntnisse mit nem zweiten 3d programm können ja nie schaden (ein wort der warnung: das blender interface is <i>extrem</i> gewöhnungsbedürftig^^)

My German isn't very impressive. If you do post in German, would there be any chance of adding an English translation as well so that we know what you're talking about? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Ooops, sorry <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Brief synopsis of my posts:

I just told him that he has to flip the one-sided faces of the black areas, as they most probably got messed up when he imported/combined the 2 different models. Pretty much the same what Kat already said, but it was a bit easier to explain this in german. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Bava

Thanks very much. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />
