help needed at greenford

I'm new to this forum and I am not sure if this is the right board <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

I have installed build 13 final and I have much fun playing it but now I'm stuck at the main quest.
I have to take Greenford to rescue the old man.
When I exit the port and raise the jolly roger the fort of Greenford doesn't start schooting at me.
After a very easy seabattle (no one is shooting at me) I attack the fort and take it.
Then I am back at the harbor with some recources and experience but no quest update.
Is this supposed to happen and if so how do I continue?
If not how can I solve this problem...

On another subject
I read that you can make your own buildings with the mod, how can I do that exactly?
 
i think i've seen this before. there have at least been other people with the same problem.
 
Have you tried raising, say, the French flag? That got me around the same problem a couple times in the past.

As to your second question: Making your own buildings, as far as I know, is impossible - although I could be wrong on that one. What you can do is place copies of already existing buildings wherever you want them by directing a crew member to erect one from a set list - just make sure you have enough gold and planks to do so. The only problem is, you can walk through the walls of them. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> And they give off this "Look at me! I don't belong!" glow. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
 
I have tried a spanish flag, that didn't work
Would starting a new game work?

Do I have to talk to a crew member or an officer?
 
the spanish flag makes a huge difference from the french flag. use the french one.
 
An officer is who you'd need to talk to, and you have to talk to them while on land near where you want the building.

You can also put buildings in your ship's decks, but that tends to make the game rather unhappy. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

heh; ill bet; in Build 14 I keep getting ships in the jungle; (this is always when i open the advanced options menu duiring gameplay so is not a bug). Dont realise how big a brig really is, do you, until its standing upright in front of you! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

well, you can of course also see how big they are when they're lying in port with that new mod. they still might be too small in comparison to characters though.

Anyway, when you rescue the old man, you're not supposed to take the fort just yet, are you?

In any case, if you have a savegame before that, just try again.
Sometimes things that don't work the first time around, do work the second time.

If I understand this correctly, you started off docked at Greenford, boarded ship from the port, and started attacking the fort immediately. That's your problem.

To advance the main quest, you need to sail to the lighthouse, land, talk to Danielle, and tell her you want to attack the fort. Remember, this is supposed to be a joint operation - you hit the fort by sea, she attacks by land. OK, so her help is unnecessary but that's the way the story works. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
 
Thanks, I talked to danielle then it worked.
The fort didn't return any fire though witch mad it kind of boring...

Hmm; is that the one where the ships are sitting rat either side of the dicking plats? Yeah; that only works in redmond for me (In the Bartholomew quest, redmond and douweson and all the otehr islands at that work perfectly!) But then none of the ships that were sitting there actually ever appear; however when you return, they are gone. Is this a planned update, as there are currently no coastal ships in any of my waters save Conceicao and Falaise'd fleur. Nice touch that mod! Its great to see the ships in their full glory; hell, there was a heavy warship sitting there the other day and I had to go to the top of port until i could see the flag on top of the mizzen! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

you know i meant i never had problems with it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> heck, quest dialogue is there for a reason.
