HELP! Vista!!!

Hey guys,

I've searched google far and wide to find a forum dedicated to this game as bethesda seems to have made no effort at all to offer help to us gamers out there! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/buds.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":drunk" border="0" alt="buds.gif" />

Anyway, I have a laptop that is vista and was wondering is there a way to get this game running on vista?! When i start the game atm it goes fine until i press new game when at this point it shuts down and says somethins wrong with driver.exe. I've tried running the game as an admin and all that but to no avail! All help is appreciated,

Pirates of the Caribbean works fine on my Vista laptop. However, the game doesn't run on many laptops because they have Intel onboard graphics cards. <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?showtopic=9234" target="_blank">Enable error logging</a> and show us what log files you get in your main game folder.

Above is all assuming you've got the 2003 Pirates of the Caribbean Akella game and does NOT apply to "Legend of Jack Sparrow" or "At World's End", which are two totally unrelated games.

I'm even able to set best qualities. I do observe lags, but game, as is, can be executed. However, it's better to use newest drivers since on older I had ctds at sea.

However, my PC is a desktop and maybe in laptops there's some other model installed, which is less PotC-friendly?

Ok thanks for the reply m8! And yes i am on about the 03 game don't worry!

Eh to be honest i'm not that great with computers and my laptop is only new so could u tell me how i enable error logging plz?
 
Sorry again m8 but i must be a complete noob! could u tell me exactly where i go to enable error logging? I don't really understand the topic u gave me lol

That's good! That's one of the two/three generated log files. Can you show the contents of system.log and error.log too?
error.log might not exist, since it's only generated when there's an actual error, but system.log will be there.
 
Kk heres the system one couldn't see error one u said mightn't be there!

Did the game install correctly? You didn't install any modpacks or anything yet, did you?
 
Yeah it is weird......The game installed perfectly fine.....just the same as it did on my old XP. It starts up normally but then when i click new game it loads it as normal for a sec and then closes down! I'll post a screenie of the error message in a sec......

Never saw that one before. It definitly isn't a Vista problem, because it does work for me.
If you install on an XP computer from your discs, it does work, right?
What if you take the installed files from the XP computer,
put them on an external hard drive and try to run the ENGINE.exe from that on your Vista computer?
I strongly suspect it's some sort of hardware issue though, which isn't easy to solve, especially not on a laptop.

hmm unfortunately i can't use my xp it's like totally busted! Hence the reason i got a vista now lol
 
Do u change any of the options when u right click the games shortcut like run as admin or run in compatibility for?

No, I didn't change any of the options. However, I did install to C:\Games\Pirates of the Caribbean and not to Program Files. Maybe that makes a difference.
