Hostile brits

I can still get to Jamaica and moor there, but the Brits are technically hostile to me. How do I get back in their good graces? And how do I pledge loyalty to their king? Is it a good idea to do that in the first place?

well you can go see the diplomat up in bermuda you can pay and he will do all sorts of things for you, fix your standings, get you trade license, government licenses etc. the worse your reputation the more it costs. trade licenses cost a bundle period.

far as if it is a good idea, if you want to work for that country and take towns and stuff for them, yea you can eventually earn a permit to go attack enemy ships and towns officially. i imagine you can buy one in bermuda but probably would cost an arm and leg if your reputation is horrible atm, my reputation was "good" and cost me like 60k in bermuda to get one, cause quite frankly i was a wee bit sick of doing governors missions.

also is nice to have one or two nations you are in good standing with either way so you can run to their harbors without sneaking in or forking out for multiple trade licenses 90 day ones will cost over 300k. being able to repair and offload goods someplace conveint and use their harbors for safe shelter if you get chased to town is a handy thing.

if your home nation is allied with england, france and england are aliies, you can be hostile and still land in their port and do business and not be harassed. dunno if you get any specific advantages by improving it other than you probably will get missions to do.

ahh yep guess another nerfed feature in everyone elses versions. dunno but last time i was there he was not there at all so i had to book a room till night and there he was in his usual seat. i will check again later i need some new trade licenses.

Huh, I could swear I've seen him there during the day as well. I certainly never had to wait for him like that, he's been there every time I visited.

this time when i went he was there and i was there during the day, i dunno that one time oddly he was vacant from the tavern entirely and i had to book a room till night. *shrug*, dunno what to make of that.
