HOw do I build settlements?

I'm so sorry I'm bothering you guys again. I've looked everywhere, but I don't know how to build a building! I have bricks, gold and I have a party of 8 sailors and two officers. So...how do I build something? I'm running Build 13.0.1.2

i've answered this question tons of times. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> you can't: it's been disabled because it didn't work right. maybe there should be a sticky topic about this so they can see what the problem is so they don't have to open a new topic about the same thing every time. i don't blame you though. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" /> you didn't know.
 
To answer the question: In Build 13.0.1.2 you can't Build settlements. Get Build 13 Update 2 from my site, install it and start a new game. In Update 2 you <i>can</i> build settlements by talking to your officer: The BuildingSet mod has been fixed and re-enabled in that update. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

It didn't work. Until Update 2. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />
 
Ok I looked it overwrites most of the changes I made.

can you tell me what effects the build mod in the update ?

Becuse normally I would just copy my seperate files and back them up and then just go back after installing the update and copy over each individule one...like build settings etc. BUT if the changes are in buildsettings that wont work .

To see all differences, use WinMerge. First make a backup of your PROGRAM folder before installing the update, then let WinMerge compare the backup folder with the folder of the update. This program will show you all differences, so all differences between Build 13 and the update AND between Build 13 and your changes. You can then put your changes into the update without leaving out the update's changes.

well, i know that santiago is now accessable, but i haven't visited it in this version yet. i'm going somewhat in that direction however, so i'll find out soon. pieter said that it works. he tested it himself. there's was something else, but i don't know what that was.

I tested it in the Build 14 Alpha version and it works there. I added the fix to the Build 13 Update 2 version, so it should also be working there now. But I didn't actually test it in Build 13 due to a lack of time. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
 
thanks a lot guys. this is awesome! also...another fix in the update is that now we can actually complete the treasure hunting quest...my game had a bug where the jungle was "locked". thanks a lot!
 
As far as I can tell, the game starts. But the screen is totally black and no music is playing. I can press F1 to access the main menu, and then I can press F2 to go to the character screen. When I'm there, there's no portrait, and my name is set to "Anonymous Coward" I have no skills or abilities. No money either.
 
UH? That is WAY weird. Are you sure you installed Build 13 Update 2 and not accidentally Build 14 Alpha 3 or something like that? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

well, build 14 alpha 3 isn't supposed to be put on build 13 without preparing it. i think. but are you using it? you should be able to see it in the lower left corner of the main menu.
 
No, I just installed the Update 2. The file I downloaded says, "b13_update2.zip" I ran the MS DOS prompt file and it said that it couldn't locate any of the files or something. On the menu, it says Build 13.0.1.2 just like it did before I installed the update...
 
In that case it sounds to me like you didn't extract the files to the right folder. After installing the update, the numbers in the main menu should be different. If they're not, something went wrong in installing.

I have been using the building set alot in my past couple of games with build 13 update 2. The only building I have a problem with is the Keep. I cant talk to the charecter inside or figure out its function. The rest of the buildings work great. In my current game I am going to build and colonize all the areas of Dowenson and see how much money that I can make by staying on shore.

Are there any futher improvemants that are going to be added to the building set? I'd like to see if the houses and farms could be made smaller so that I can fit more in one area. Adding in some civilians(even if they just stand in one place would be nice) and some extra vegitation, wells, statues, etc. It would be really cool if patrols could be added or even gaurds to help protect your buildings when they are attacked. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" />

You have to select all the folders at once, from winzip or other programs, and then send or extract them to your game directory. (ex. C:/Programs/Bethesda/Pirates of the Caribbean) Then just overwrite the files, start a new quest, and have fun!!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Can you elaborate on that problem for a bit? What happens when you try to talk to the keep character? You get a screen with "Can't load dialog" or something like that? Or doesn't anything happen at all? In any case: The keep is supposed to have a cannon which will fire at enemies when they show up.

At the moment it is considered a finished mod and no improvements are in the works. Some day perhaps, but don't count on it any time soon.
