How do I screenshot?!

The title says it all.... how to I take screenshots?! Is it a basic "enablescreenshot = 1" in the .ini, or what?

Also, while I'm asking random n00bish questions, how do I change the controls? When I click on Options, Change Controls (or whatever it says) it shows the controls, but I can't change them :-(

Bear in mind that my game may not have <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net/index.php?showtopic=6795" target="_blank">installed properly</a>...

I press pc keyboard "Prt Scr"button close botc, start paint , and paste. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
About cntrols first try default controls then try to change them.
"Not installed properly". Try download from net cd speed control and install at slow speed.

I tried just pressing Prt Scr, but it didn't do anything :-(

And I've tried multiple tools from the net... it just seems that I'm missing a file somewhere :-S No matter what I do, it says I don't have "Setup-2a.bin". Grrr :-(

I think that soapy water and a quick scrub may be the way forward...

I think "Prt Scr" is like copy, you have to "paste" to paint. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Okay, I've managed to make it work :) I usually have to press Alt+PrtScr, but turn out it's just PrtScr now :)

Which leads me to my secong point.... I'm pretty sure my game shouldn't look like this, should it?! <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v733/Happyhannah/nasty.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />
 
You seem to have some files missing. I suppose that is because the installation wasn't properly finished.

If that is the In-Game screenshot method, as I recall, they are saved in the root of your POTC directory with the names:
Seadogs2_0000.tga, Seadogs2_0001.tga, Seadogs2_0002.tga, ... etc.

It saves a shot each time you press F8
 
Quick question on the subject of screenshots, having taken some via F8, when I open/view the TGA files in photoshop textures are missing (the sea pretty much and parts of the sky are transparent) but in-game everything is fine and very pretty. Any ideas why? Do I need a different program to view the tgas? I'm sure I didn't last time I took screen shots (2 years ago or so).

Oh yeah it's run on a Dell Inspiron 8600c, 512GB Ram, ATi 9600 128MB card running a (non-ATI) Omega driver.

Hmmm, its a photoshop thing. Opening them in Photoshop 7 makes some areas transparent and when saved to jpg format these areas become white. However, using Paint Shop Pro the screenies come out fine. Strange, but problem/mystery solved from my perspective.
 
F8!! That's what I need! I hate having to exit after each screenshot to save it, now I can fill up my POTC directory just lke I've filled up my Morrowind one :) (I have 1200+ screenshots in there <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> )

Is there any way to change the settings so it saves the screenshot as something like .jpg or .bmp? I just like to be able to see what pictures I've taken in the folder without opening all of them in Photoshop! It takes ages!

I don't know whether that is possible, but as alternative to having to manually open all the files and then save them as jpgs, you could just batch convert 'em in blocks to jpgs where upon you can browse them. Not sure how to tell photoshop to do that, but in Paint Shop Pro it took 30 seconds to convert the 30 I took tonight into jpg copies.
