How to play Black Pearl and Flying Dutchman?

bandyta

Landlubber
I have a question, what I must to do to play these ships? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

I know Pieter explained this very recently somewhere on these POTC boards.

Try using the "search" function.

OK, find InternalSettings.h file and in the section:
"Ship Selection Options", you can see the ships offered to you when you start a new game.
Just change one of the entries to the ship you want to start with.

Then you can select it at start of new game.

also if you havent downloaded the flying dutchman you have to do so before you can own it.

If you are going to quote me ... then at least "Quote" me. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":whipa" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" />

Those instructions are for setting those ships (or any ship) as start ship once you have them in game.

Getting them in game depends on what build you have.
Pieter answers that in a post somewhere.

With all these you can set "theBlackPearl" and "FlyingDutchman"/"CursedDutchman" as starting ships in InternalSettings.h. In Alpha 6 Update 2 they're also set to <i>CanBuy = true</i> and they're available for purchase mainly from pirate shipyards.

Pretty easy open Bethesda Softworks/Pirates of The Caribbean/Program/characters_init

scroll donw until u see this: ch.Ship.Type = SHIP_NOTUSED;//SHIP_LUGGER_ENGLAND; change it to this <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":c" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />h.Ship.Type = SHIP_NOTUSED;//SHIP_BLACK_PEARL// for the pearl
and //SHIP_FLYING_DUTCHMAN// for the duthcman after this scroll down until u see this again
ch.Ship.Type = SHIP_LUGGER_ENGLAND; do the same with this.When u done copy the modified characters_init file into english directory and owerwrite the existing one there. Now,if u start a new game u will start with the ship u want.

Good Luck <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

first of all search Pirates and click on the file that is just a file not anything on it, and then do that stuff

Ehm. Completely confusing help doesn't really help. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

And it's behind the // mark anyway, which means the text has no impact on the game. You could put "Hello my name is Ricsi" there instead and it would change nothing. Which game version is that anyway? Definitly not Build 13. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wacko:" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

AFAIK there three ways ot get a unique/quest ship:

First one:

Go to your main dir/PROGRAM/Ships/ships_init.c, open it with note pad, search the ship you want to have and set
Can_encounter and Can_buy to true. This way you can buy the ship at a (pirate) shipyard, to apply this new
setting, hit F11 (reinit) after you loaded a savegame.

Second:

Go to main dir/PROGRAM/InternalSettings.h and search for "Ship Selection Options". These are the ships you can
select at the start of the game. If you want to swap the ketch for Kazeite´s Black Pearl, replace "Ketch" with
"theBlackPearl".

Third (works only for 14.6 update 2 AFAIK):

Go to main dir/PROGRAM/console.c and add the bolded part

void ExecuteConsole()
{
ref pchar = GetMainCharacter();
ref ch;
int i;
<b>CreateShip_Cheat( internal shipname, nationality, speed, turnrate, max caliber);
</b>

The characteristics of the ships can be found in ship_init.c.

For example, if I want to get the Wicked Wench, it would look like this:

void ExecuteConsole()
{
ref pchar = GetMainCharacter();
ref ch;
int i;
CreateShip_Cheat("WickedWench", ENGLAND, 16.8, 36.5, 24);

Press F12 ingame and, voila, you have the wicked wench in the first ship slot (keep an eye on your max load btw, if you have too much, it will result in a CTD).

Regards,
Bava

Very true. Option 3 should work fine in game versions below Build 14 Alpha 6 Update 2 as well. I have written a GiveShip2Character function to replace the usage of CreateShip_Cheat here and also to try and get rid of the cargo overup crash. So far I have been "partly" succesfull. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

It looks like he might be talking about stock POTC, but in a confused way.

No, no, no! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/guns.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":2guns" border="0" alt="guns.gif" />

You never swap out the Ketch! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/boom.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":boom" border="0" alt="boom.gif" />

Swap out the sloop, or some other ship, but not the Ketch. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />

Bad Bava <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":whipa" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" /> bad <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":whipa" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" />

it's his ship. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

always trade out the gun boat...unless it has 9999999 HP, and a few dozen cannons and 700 crew <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbs1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":2up" border="0" alt="thumbs1.gif" />

LOL @ Petros! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/24.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rofl" border="0" alt="24.gif" />

Ok, I have next question.

I install "build13_full", next
"b13_update3_full", next
"b14_alpha6_update2", next
"b14_alpha8_wip1", and if I change lines in internalsettings to these:
// Ship Selection Options
string NEW_SHIP_1 "theBlackPearl" //
string NEW_SHIP_2 "BritishWarship" //
string NEW_SHIP_3 "Frigate" //
string NEW_SHIP_4 "Manowar4" //
string NEW_SHIP_5 "Endeavour" // Fred Bobs teeny gunboat
string NEW_SHIP_6 "WickedWench" // Captain Augast
string NEW_SHIP_7 "Amsterdam" // KK
string NEW_SHIP_8 "CursedDutchman" // Petros

I can't play these ships, I see oryginal lugger, and others.
What I must to do to play it?

Sorry bad English (i'm learning 1 year only) <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
