Hows Your Game Going aka Storyboard

Storm Modder
Well its been a while since i got to play the game and tell my story so i'm a little rusty. MK and myself use to do this a lot and it was fun, i like to read about how everyones doing in the game and there progress even if its a new ship its progress. xD:

My settings.
Experience increase rate = as low as i can (far left)
Difficulty level = sailor (i'm currently test CMV3.2 out)
Game version = CMV3.2 (beta testing things out)
Nation = pirate
Hero = Red Legg
Game type = RTBL
Ship type = realistic ship purchase on
Spyglass type = stock spyglass settings
Reload times = realistic reload times

So i started out as a pirate playing at Red Legg, my ship was the Edinbourg not a favourite of my ships but with a decent cargohold i couldn't complain. She lacked speed and had a weak hull, you see all these ships and you ask yourself "playing as a pirate what is the best ship to have". Many will argue which ships they feel are the better choice, i personally look for speed and how big the cargohold is. I like a ship to be at minimum of 14 knots and a cargohold no smaller than 1500. The Edinbourgh had a cargohold over just over 1000 units of space and a speed of 12 knots, my first goal get a better ship. And so it wasi soon found myself in search of a new ship, i boarded a few small ships like the Bounty but i don't like the Bounty so i didn't keep her. Anyway her cargohold was only a little bit bigger than the Edinbourgh and her speed was 13 knots so she didn't meet my minimum specifications of a pirate ship.

I thourght to myself a Schooner would be ok or even a Brig if she has good speed. It wasn't long before i found a Brig and after i captured her i moved everything over to her, the cargohold was 1800 and the speed was a little shy of 14 knots, i figured this would do. So with my new ship i set myself a new goal, make as much money as i could to upgrade her speed, cargohold and maximum calibure since she could only mount 8Ibs. Its now March and i still have the Brig, she's had the cargohold, maximum calibure and speed upgrades and now she can mount 12Ibs, hold 2,450 and has a speed of 17 knots. I have been searching for officer's to hire and have almost filled all the positions i just need one more fighter and a carpenter then all positions are filled. The Brig can carry a maximum of 163 crew 189 if i wish to be overloaded. Pirates might have overloaded there ships with crew in real life but for me i don't wish to do that as its effects on moral is high.

My new goal is to build my skills up, i already have the excellent spyglass which was just luck that a captain i killed had it. My rank is 7 at the moment, and i'm working on building stealth up so i can sneak into towns and sell some the loot for higher profits. Its not going to be easy but then nothings as easy as it sounds, i have engaged a few French fleets whilest flying the Dutch flag and i have only been recognised once so far. Now i'm sitting a few hundered yards from 5 French ships, Whydah 30 guns, Wicked Wentch 36 guns, Bountyu 14 guns, Heavy Schooner 24 guns and Pinnace 18 guns. [attachment=5656:untitled.JPG]

I have spent a total of 400k on upgrading this ship and buying the meterial so i'm in no rush to replace her right now, if i do find a better ship the Brig will be used by someone else and i'll have 2 ships under my command.

So hows your game going?

Till the next update, best wishes
Luke

OK Mates, Here's what's happenin with me....

I'm playing the CMV3.2 beta complete mod in testing. Happy to say it's very stable so far.

I began on Captain setting and the level up bar centerered. I started out as a Dutch Adventurer with the Nicholas Van Hoorn character, with a Colonial Schooner out of Bermuda. I wanted a larger faster ship so started running passengers and cargo between the Pirate havens and French colonies.

On my third mission I had an escort ship with me and managed to capture (barely) a pirate Schooner. I switched and kept the Colonial schooner to assist with more cargo. On the next mission I captured a pirate Heavy Brig. I sold the Colonial and occupied the Heavy Brig. I took a couple longer missions to Marigot and Willemstad. During that stint I captured a light Brig and turned in the schooner at Fort de France and now had a pair of brigs. I occupied the light brig because it looks bigger and I just like that ship. (We are switching the names and cargo hold numbers)

Once I was in Willemstad, I was at about level 11 and had all my officer billets filled. By this point I had killed the two killers that want to talk to you in the caves. I had also cleared one cave of its denizens. I like Willemstad, because its a good central trading port with a lot of cheap goods even for a beginning character. I knew how cheap the livestock was and so started to make my own trading runs to the Brazilian coast ports and Martinique.

It was on one of these runs with an escort ship that I hit a real blow and that storm almost sunk me. I limped into Caracas. The poor wolfman got burned and I repaired my ships and sold cargos. On the way out I ran into a English trading convoy with small poorly manned ships and captured 3 of them letting one go. I had hit the jackpot! These ships were full of gold and ebony.

I had nearly made it back to Willemstad was at one third damage and half manning from the battle with the traders, when I ran into yet another convoy of English traders. These were larger better manned ships. Now I was in trouble. The heavy brig was completely dismasted five minutes into the fight and was fighting for it's life isolated from me. While the majority of the English 5 ship convoy focused on my companion, I managed to capture a Corvette (one of my favorites). With my light brig now so heavily damaged and so few crew remaining I let her sink into the briney deep. She was smoking and on fire as I watched her slowly go under.

I now focused on a pair of sloops. I had a good gunner and had picked up a couple perks I put towards gunnery by this point. My gunnery was solid and I batterered the crap out of the one that had been tangling with my other brig. Between the two of us we sunk her. Now my other brig was almost gone. Dismasted, smoking and with almost all her crew dead, I desperately tried to get to her to pull her few remaining men, captain and cargo off. Alas she was sunk by the other sloop of war. The Chase Frigate that had been defending from a distance to my good fortune abandoned the last two ships. I attacked and boarded the other sloop and slaughtered her remaining crew and sent her captain to Davey Jones. She was not worth keeping and I had hardly any men left.

I turned my attention finally to the last lone Dutch (AOP stock) fluyt. She also hardly had any men left. I used grape to bring her crew compliment even lower before I boarded her. She had a tough captain and I almost didn't win. I had a shread of health left and no potions remaining. Now I had a Corvette, a Cutter and a Fluyt. I had no men remaining other than on the cutter (like 14 men). Out of the previous prizes I'd captured I had only the one one cutter left that I'd sent away from the battle at the beggining. The other prizes were sunk. I had already lost the gold and ebony on the other brig and other prizes. I wasn't losing anything more. Because when I went to "sail to" mode, I knew I could get to Willemstad, but not without crew on the Fluyt, I sailed there directly. It took a long time in 1st person mode, but I sped up time which helped.

I finally got there and reprovisioned, recruited new crew, and refitted my ships. This will make a good pair. The Corvette is fast and maneuverable with good firepower and will hold a nice sized crew. This coupled with the Fluyt, a great very durable trader with lots of cargo space, makes a good reserve ship, full of men, food, rum and cargo. I sold the remaining prize cutter and cargo. The Gold and Ebony brought a handsome windfall even though I'm sad at the loss of the rest of it and a fine officer and ship.

So here's where I am. I'm considering taking my first governors quest this game while I continue to run livestock, nutmeg and sandlewood. I'm gonna start looking for Sophie and Greyhound as my next aquisitions.

Having a blast! :will So what's going on in your game?????

MK

Wow sounds like you've had quite an eventfull start, loosing those trphies though was a major draw back. It can't be avioded though and its good to know you accept what happened and continue as should be the case and not reloading because something didn't go the way you wanted. The savescum is fine if used in the right way, such as testing reasons but or quests that are bugged but any other time and its cheating in my mind.

In my game after sitting near the Franch fleet flying the Dutch flag i decided to head off in search of a ship to attack, it wasn't long before i found a Spanish fleet which i attacked. The fleet had 1 Brig, 1 Heavy Brig (was called Light Brig in CMV3.1.5) and 3 Bounty's. I attacked the 3 Bount's first as they was the weakest, sinking all 3 i started towards the Brig which i captured and then after a naval dog fight i captured the Heavy Brig. I had lost most of my crew and took some heavy damage so i headed towards Bermuda for some serious repairs. I sold the cargo which was why i kept the Brig and Heavy Brig, my gold was now up to 800k. I bourght a English letter of marque, and hired some crew for the 2 prize ships and bourght supplies for them aswell. I set sail for Nevis when i was attacked by a Dutch fleet, they had 1 Whydah, 1 Heavy Galleon and 1 Black Pearl. Well been a fan of the Black Pearl i had to have it, i ordered the 2 ships to focus there attacks with knipple shots one on each fo the Whydah and Heavy Galleon while i went after the fastest of the ships the Black Pearl.

I boarded and captured the Black Pearl leaving her with minimum crew and to sail away i set sail for the nearest companion to get some crew, after i had picked some crew up i boarded and captured the Heavy Galleon which was carrying a massive amount of 4Ibs cannons. Again i ordered her to sail away and again i picked some more crew up off the prize ship that was ordered to attack the Whydah. I boarded and captured the Whydah and found her hold full of Ebany so i kept her aswell. At Nevis i saold the goods and swapped to the Black Pearl, leaving the Whydah and slightly upgraded Brig with the port controller. I will start a new game on a more difficult skill level as this is only a game for testing things out and so far everything is playing as it should with no bugs. I don't think i'll play as a pirate this time as its very rare that i select pirates as my starting nation, i might play as the English who i normally pick. I'll post updates on the new game as soon as i have something worth posting.

I look forward to reading more stories.

Diary of Sea Captain, Lord Fauntleroy

I started as a merchant in Bermuda under the flag of the English. I was as innocent as new born babe. Not really knowing what to do I started talking with everyone in town and then wandered outside of town for a tad of exploring. I landed in a cave and proceeded to get a pummeling by the angry ghosts of ancient pirates or so it seemed. Enough was enough I headed back to civilization then decided to head out into the great beyond, in the strangest little boat I had ever been aboard. Look out world here I come, will I tame the Sea or will she tame me.

On my strange little boat there was crew everywhere waking around climbing rope ladders walking in circles they looked very anxious to work but they could not help me in my decisions I was in-charge of this adventure so I made my first decision head towards the nearest island Tortuga.

Well things where not all that wonderful or rosy on my very first voyage. I had not much coin, a crew that was eager to work but no real aid then the our ship was attacked by a small pirate vessel. I fought valiantly like a cornered wildcat but soon pooped out and became overpowered by my pirate comrades. Next view was a beautiful peak with a cross on it, at least they didn't burry the landlubber at sea.

Thanks to a small miracle I came back from my untimely plundering and learned from my early mistakes as a sea-pup, sort of. I now have been on the High Seas for over a year. I mainly trade with friendly sorts and have amassed great wealth only to see it sink along with my crew and my heart to the bottom of the sea. There are greater forces at work other than desperate men on the High Seas and that is Mother Nature herself the Grand Madame of the Sea. The wind and rain can turn a voyage into disaster quicker than the Spanish fleet, you have been warned.

As a Sea Captain I have but one regret and that regret is a beautiful damsel I met in Barbados. She has stolen my heart, along with 1,800 pieces of eight. One day if I am able I will return and take her for my bride, if she will have me. I'm not a sailor with a lass in every port and the Grandest of pearls I did find in her deep blue loving eyes.

There is one other thing though that tugs at my soul and that is the Black Pearl. She is in the possession of a pirate I know not the pirates name. I've seen her only once and Oh! how grand she is. She did attack me but it was more like a sweet loving kiss from my first lass, a kiss I will never forget. I know she is out there somewhere and one day I will find her again and with any luck she will be mine, then her and I can dance a dance on the High Seas together and all my past heartaches will be put to rest and my remaining days can begin anew.

Captain, Lord Fauntleroy.... July, 26, 1666. Tortuga.

v3.1.5

Outstanding narrative Captain, :onya

Thoroughly enjoyed the read and have indeed experienced many of the same things you speak of.

Has anyone ever had a wench take them for over a MIL??? :shrug

I lost 400K to one, once long ago. Now I get the room and give my pot o dubloons to me fighting mate and then only keep enough to see if she steals. If I only have 10 instead of 20 when I come downstairs then I know she only wanted me treasure. The 10 I think is fair compensation for the company.

The stories just get better with time. Taking forts and cities with fleets of your own is on the horizon.

Who else will have a go now Gents? :keith

MK

No the most i've ever lost to a wench is 100k which at the time was a lot of money.

Nice story Lord Fauntleroy, the Black Pearl will be yours one day, not so sure about the woman you met but you never know she might be on the Black Pearl waiting for you one cold winters night. xD:

Here's my new game, the one earlier is testing CMV3.2 out so it was a bad idea to use that for this kind of thing. I have gone with the normal starting difficulty for me. Its more fun on the higher difficulty settings since it seems more challanging to make money at first and obviously capturing bigger and better ships is much harder so here are the settings i've gone with. Experience is set to full because i don't know how long i will be able to do this for before i have to start over due to something coming up which requires a new game so i want to be able to level up fast but normally i have the experience increase slider set to lowest increase.

Game Settings:
Difficulty = Captain
Game type = RTBL
Experience gain = quickest (far right)

I came to and walked on deck as i did a felt a little ill and leaned over the side throwing up. I leaped back and as i did this weird looking fella walked over to me and asked what was wrong, i said there's a big f**king shark down there. The man laughed and said how great i had been during the battle and if it wasn't for me we would all be fish food now. He went on to explain in more detail as i looked at him with a puzzled look of confussion, he told me i had been knocked out and the memory should return soon. I must be a multi tasker to be able to sail the ship while i sleep, no wounder i'm now the captain.

Deciding the pirate flag was not such a good isea we sailed under the English flag and entered Charlestown where we sold what little cargo we had onboard and hired some crew making some repairs whilest we was there. The store owner was more than pleased to offer us a job to hunt down some Blue Bird, accepting the quest in hand i asked if there was any cargo he needed delivering anywhere. The guy's said yes and off we went on our first trip across the Caribbean. Well my first trip i can't remember any of the one's before, that must have been some hefty blow i recieved not to be able to remember much of my life.

It was one the way back from port Of Spain that we enccountered a Spanish ship, a Heavy Lugger. Well been in the Ketch with a small cargohold and few guns was all good but if we was to make any kind of serious loot, i mean money we needed a ship with a bigger cargohold. After a long and testing battle we managed to board and capture the Heavy Lugger. Her cargohold wasn't much bigger but big enough to say bye bye to the Ketch, now with a new ship and some goods to sell we entered Charlestown. We had made enough money to hire some more crew as we only had 16 left after the battle with the Heavy Lugger. A officer was hired for the role of gunner and a fighter was hired too, we now have very little money and need to drop off some cargo at Fort-De-France, what fun.

Its been busy but quiet on the caribbean that was till i entered Bridgetown where i met this rather charming young lady called Beatrice Devline who offered me a quest, well she is hot and who am i to refuse such a nice lady like her. After a 5 hour battle between 2 Sloop's, 1 Light Cutter, 1 Bounty and 2 Merchant Brig's i had no choice but to sail away due to only having 25 crew left. I had managed to sink a Sloop and Merchant Brig though but sadly in order to escape i had to lighten the load and the goods (which wasn't worth much anyway) i had to throw overboard. At least i got some much needed money i had found in each fo the captains quaters from it though, and i managed to find some books to read which will come in very handy as its a long way back to a friendly port.

Obviously Beatrice wasn't to happy to walk away with nothing but then i had lost much more than her, at least i tried. The answer to this is a ship that can carry more crew, that will have to wait as i need to make money to pay off my debts and cover the ships upkeep every month.

It was the 28th of March 1665 when on my way back from Port Of Spain after selling some sugar to them and buying some Copper to sell at Bridgetown that i was attacked by a Spanish Brig. After a short battle we was boared, we managed to hold on dispite been out numbered and took the Brig. The Brig is now my flag ship and the Heavy Lugger has now been captained by one of the fighter's who will step out of that role as soon as i find a capable officer. In the mean time i will continue to do runs between Port Of Spain and Bridgetown, at least till my trade skills is high enough for other goods to become profitable.

By April 12th i was able to start trading mohogany from Fort-De-France to Basse Terre, however due to not paying the debt at Charlsetown i found myself with a bounty on my head and some slighty incompetant bounty hunter's questioned me about it. After i explained to them they had the wrong guy they left, guess they didn't bother to ask what i looked like before taking on the quest. This has left me with a problem since now i can't go into a English port without been attacked, so i will head to Bermuda and use the diplomat and get this bounty off my head before it grows above the 20,000 pieces of eight its at now. Luckily i managed to pay the loan i had at Basse Terre a few day's earlier other's i would have the French after me aswell.

I made one final trip to Fort-De-France selling off the last load of food i had purchased from Basse Terre, on my way back i was attacked by a Dutch trader who so happened to have a Schooner. Well a Schooner is far better than a Heavy Lugger, they can sail into the wind and its sails are harder to hit just like the Xebec's, they have larger cargohold and normally are faster with 20 guns as a pose to 12. The only down fall to the Schooner is it doesn't have a compas like the Heavy Lugger does, so its a tad easier to get lost in these water's. After arriving back at Basse Terre with the final cargo of mohogany i decided to sell the Heavy Lugger and keep the Schooner, well i figured as long as the captain of the Schooner follows me they won't get lost. Thats assuming i know the way in the first place.

:dance Sounds like you are having fun mate!!!

Can't wait to get back to my desktop (tomorrow night).

Laptop is OK but just not playing as good. I got it running the beta though.

All I can say is that I wish I were a crewmember on your brig. HIGH ADVENTURE!!! YARRRR!!!! :onya

MK

Who else will tell their salty yarn here me buckoes???ARRR!!! ;)

That would be funny, such a shame multiplyer doesn't work we would be having so much fun online.

Glad to hear you got it working on the laptop. :onya

Its been a long time since i got to play COAS like this, most of my time has been spent editing, testing, more editing followed by more testing. I think the highest i ever got was to June before starting over to test something out, i figured to show how much fun i'm having i would put some funny comments in. Hopefully this will make other's want to tell us of there experience in the caribbean. You do know guy's it doesn't have to be COAS it can be POTC aswell. Hint Hint. :razz

We are waiting on a few final things and then final beta testing will be done, at the moment everything is been tested to the limits to locate and fix any bugs. We have already fixed some bugs and improved other things. A release date can't be given just yet but i would say (as a guess) a week or two maybe three weeks. Can't say for sure (depends on how long these other things take to finiah) but it will be this side of xmas.

After paying the diplomate at Bermuda we headed to Turtuga to see what they had and if there was anything we could sell at a profit. Because our trading skill is to low we had to seatle for a quest to trasport some coffee to Bridgetown. It was hear that we saw the sandalwood was cheaper than any where else, this was partly due to them having 11000 of it. We now had our own trade route figured out, Sandalwood from Bridgetown to Basse Terre, copper from Basse Terre to Bridgatown. On our 3rd run to Basse Terre we noticed a battle between the French and a pirates. The French had a Tartane and a Sloop whilst the pirates had a Brigentine, we sailed towards the Brigantine and after a short battle we boared and captured the ship making it our flag ship and giving command of the Brig to a temperary officer. The Brigantine was faster and could hold more crew than the Brig, however the Brig could hold more cargo. Both ships could mount 8Ibs guns at mximum. what is it with these Brig''s doesn''t anyone like higher calibures than the 8Ibs.

By late May Basse Terre was out of copper and Bridgetown still had a lot of sandalwood, we decided to do a quest for the store owner at Basse Terre, he wanted us to take some goods to Fort-De-France. On our way there we was attacked by two pirate ships, a Pinnace and a Yatch, with our superior speed we managed to escape after damaging the Yatch''s sails a little. We are not ready to battle large ships yet, the Pinnace''s tend to have anything from 300 crew upwards and we can only hold 129 any more than that and we will be over crewed and moral will be effected.

At Fort-De-France we sold the Schooner and hired Juan Guartem who is now in command of the Brig, his skills are not to good but with time he should get better. A few weeks later we entered a battle between a Spanish Galleon and two French ships, Schooner and a Corvette. I figured the Galleon would be a way of stepping up into the larger ships like Surprise and other Frigate''s that have large crews, so off we went to attack the Galleon. The Galleon boarded and sunk the Schooner which got to close while the Corvette kept its distance firing bombs. After several broadsides of grape shots we boarded and was happily suprised to find there was few men to fight. We kept the Galleon making it the flag ships and leaving the Brigantine woth the port controller at Basse Terre where we had sold the Dye''s we purchased from Port Of Spain.

I entered the tavern and this young slender guy approached, he said his name''s Pit, Jeremy Pit. He offered a quest but was to discuss this matter further onboard his ship, we went to his ship and as we got closer we could see it was a Heavy Galleoth. A few broadsides from a reasonable well armed ship and that things going down i thourght to myself. We spoke with Jeremy to see what he had to offer, he said about a Spanish merchant fleet that has been sunk in a storm and was loaded with gold. My eye''s widened as the word gold was said, been a homest merchant man i thourght it was only right we give these Spanish survivors a helping hand and lighten the birden of all that gold. After a long fight and many dea we stood looking at the heap of bodies, having lost 1 fighter we collected his stuff and sailed to Port Of Spain where we sold the gold and purchased sandalwood to sell at Basse Terre. The sad thing is with some changes made that require a new game this game is now over, sorry. I will keep you guy's updated as to how the new game is going.

UPDATE:
Here's it is the new start.

Game details
RTBL on
Captain difficulty
Experience gain highest

Hi my name is Red Legs Greaves, my ship the Wind Chaser is a Merchant Schooner, the ship has a cargohold of 871 a speed of 14.58 knots, a hull strength of 973 and a maximum amount of 100, we currently have 43 onboard. Bellow is my logbook of all our activatives in the caribbean.

Jan 2nd 1665 at 06:56 We have spent a day in port at Bermuda getting supplies, fixing the ship and hiring some crew. We are almost ready to set sail, our destination is Charlestown where we hope to start some merchant runs for the store owners around the caribbean and make some much needed money.

January 7th 1665 at 06:12
We arrived at Charlestown were we took a loan of 4000 pieces of eight and hired 13 more crewmen, we now have 60 crew onboard. We have been tasked with delivering 272 units of cinnamon to Port Royal.

January 11th 1665 at 13:26
We was courght up in a storm and have lost 2 crewmen in total, our ship has taken a heavy battering and the sails are in desperate need of repair. We are lucky to be only a few miles from Port Royal.

January 12th at 06:46am
we arrived at Port Royal where we made repairs costing us 3,428 piece of eight. Because of the heavy costs for repair we have been forced to take a loan out as to replace the lost crewmen and hire a officer a treasurer who cost us 4,330 pieces of eight. We have been tasked with delivering 5,576 units of grape shots to Port Of Spain.

Jan 23rd 1665 at 02:38
We have just arrived at Port Of Spain, after staying at the tavern for the night we have dropped the cargo we was tasked with delivering here making 4, 512 piece of eight and have been tasked with delivering 140 units of fish to Basse Terre where we will be given 5,208 pieces of eight. We have also hired some more crew increasing our total crew to 100.

Jan 30th 1665 at 07:40
We have arrived at Basse Terre where we delivered the cargo we was asked to bring here and we have been tasked witn delivering 211 units of salt to Port-Au-Prince where we will recieve 6,520 piece of eight. We have also restocked the ship as supplies was getting low and we have hired a navigator who cost us 2,620 piece of eight, so we took a 8000 pieces of eight loan out to help cover the monethly wages which was due in a couple of day's time.

Feb 10th 1665 at 07:00
After delivering the cargo we have been given the task of delivering 296 units of paper to Basse Terre. At 10:28am as we was leaving the port a Spanish 6th rate ship was spotted heading towards us, the ship turned and sailed away as it came closer to the fort which we was near at the time.

19th Feb 1665 at 03:19
We have once again hit by a storm and after taking a heavy amount of damage and loosing several crew we pulled into Basse Terre not only delivering the cargo but having to make serious repairs. We have been tasked with delivering 197 units of basil to Tortuga where we will recieve 4,373 piece of eight. We have hired more crew to replace those we lost and made repairs which cost us 2,722 piece of eight.

Feb 22nd 1665 at 13:12
Just a few miles from Basse Terre we was attacked by a pirate Barque, a 6th rate ship with 16 8Ibs culverines. We managed to capture the ship loosing 37 crew and taking very little damage. We have kept the Barque and handed her over to the navigator with minimum crew of 15 sailors, the ship has 10 units of gold onboard which we will sell at Tortuga.

Feb 27 at 21:29
We have arrived at Tortuga, the following morning we dropped off the cargo but the store owner refussed to accept indicating a shipment had already arrived and he was in no need for what we had onboard. Well he got them anyway as we sold them to him for 4,317 pieces of eight. I noticed 2 treasure chests, not sure where they came from but we sold them never the less for 12,000 piece of eight each and 10 units of gold was 3400. We also decided to sell the Merchant Schooner as we are indebt at some ports and need the money to pay off these loans. We got 17, 445 piece of eight for her, this has made the Barque our flag ship now. The stats for this ship are, cargohold 1737, 16 8Ibs culverines, hull strength of 4148, speed 9.34 knots and maximum crew 112. We now have 46, 352 piece of eight so we can start clearing our debts after this months wages have been paid out. We have been tasked with delivering 221 units of wine to Saint John's where we will recieve 8, 310 piece of eight.

March 5th at 00:00
I recieve news of a bounty placed on my head by France because of not delivering 2 chests to some guy, i was not aware i had recieved any task of this kind and sold the 2 chests at Tortuga for 12,000 piece of eight each, i guess all i can say is oops. Looks like a visit to a pirate tavern will be in order to pay off this bounty. I think i will wait till the loans i took out are classed as over due and pay one lump some covering the bounty for both the loans and the treasure chests i sold.

March 7 at 17:34
After arriving at Saint John's 2 bounty hunter's stopped me requesting some money, rather than pay them the 27,148 piece of eight they requested i ran near the English gaurds who after been courght by one of the bounty hunter's unleashed hell on the 2 bounty hunter's who at the time was using medical supplies like they was sweats so my attacks was having very little effects on them. I think its clear now that i will need to hire some fighter's to help hold off the bounty hunter's before i loose my life trying to make a living for myself.

March 9th 1665 at 08:26
We arrived at Charlsetown where i repayed the 4000 pieces of eight i had loaned, now i shall sail to Port bRoyal and pay the loan i took out then i'm all squar with England. Just have France to worry about. As we left port a Spanish Cutter was seen sailing towards us, well we need the money and this ship might have something onboard with selling.

March 16th 1665 at 13:05
We arrived at Port Royal where we payed the 4000 pieces of eight loan we took costing us again 7000 and we sold what goods we took after the captain of the Cutter surendered, those good was. 80 units of Ginger which i got 2,400 for and 20 units of peppercorn which i got 440 for. We hired another navigator costing us 3000 piece of eight, our old navigator will now take the role of doctor and the new navigator will take the role of navigator as his skill is 52 in navigation compared to 46 the old navigator had. We also hired 2 fighter's for 7,130.

April 8th 1665 at 08:03
Arriving at Basse Terre we payed off the 8000 pieces of eight loan we had taken out back in January which cost us 13,520. Now all our debts are clear apart from the bounty on our heads, i expect the French will not attack as long as i fly the English flag so we are safe from the soldiers but not the bounty hunter's which will no doubt be plent more of.

Nice progression.

Looking forward to v3.2.

Diary of Sea Captain, Lord Fauntleroy

October 13, the hulls were full to the brim with copper. Its night and the winds all but calm, the moon is full and my deck hands are made happy by a double ration of rum. All seemed good and right and then a lone boom was heard then more booM boOM bOOM BOOM it kept getting louder. I rose from my fog grabbed my pistol then ran across the bow, Spanish, wouldn't you know those Spanish are firing right at us, pests of the sea they are, pests of the sea.

Two small craft, both Lugger. Now why are those scurvy naves poking at us, I wondered? Comes to find out later they had all gone mad, Appears they had been carrying horses in their cargo hold and the horrible stench them nasty animals made had drove them all stark raving mad. I wonder what god respecting Captain would be so ignorant as to allow horses in the hold, everyone knows stench of horses will drive you plum crazy.

Well we sunk one ship outright and captured the other. I ordered my first mate and a swab to paint up a sail. They painted horse apples on that Spanish shame sail then ran it high on the Lugger, Santa Agnes, she was called and then we sank her too along with that horrible rotten horse stench, we did manage to recover a few cannons and they where scrubbed with brine to remove the horse stink then oiled.

I have one scorn and that scorn is horses, I hates them gawd awful creatures, specially Spanish ones. I even hates the sight of em cause when I was a young lad one of those nasty critters bit me right square on the bum. That nasty old nag took a slice outa my backside as big as a slice o apple pie. I still have them ugly scars for proof, was told by a lass once that it looked like someone bit my bum she counted 9 tooth marks back there, nasty horses I hates em.

The days are getting sorter and the nights a little cooler. Me thinks I need a rest but the crew needs me so I will carry on. I lost my glass eye again. I hope it didn't roll overboard? I've been using a large greenish pearl with a yellow flaw in it, the dam thing won't stay in place its to small. I hope my fitted eye turns up soon I just don't like that darn eye patch just don't feel right. Ain't never putting grapeshot in the eye hole again its to hard to get out. Woe is me, where's my rum?

Oh well tomorrow is October 15 and we will be putting in at Bermudas for a ship upgrade. That ramshackle tub Furious, shot full a holes and sails gone, might just have some flash left in her, with a little help and a few coin she might be fast again, she has the hull for it.

Lord Fauntleroy, Morning October 14 1666, adrift at sea north of St. Martin isle.

v3.1.5
---------------------------------------------

I'll be quiet now, sorry.

fauntleroy

Nice update Lord, sounds like your having a lot of fun there. :onya

April 27th 1665 at 07:00
The diplomate at Bermuda has completed his task of settling the dispute between us and France, the bounty has been lifted and France are now nutraul to us again. We are not sure what the diplomate has said but what ever it was it was enough and we now hope no more bounties will be placed on our head for silly mistakes. We can now head back to Charlestown so we can begin trading once again.

May 1st 1665 at 00:20
We was courght in yet another storm, we lost 3 crew and took heavy damage to the ships hull, our sails wasn't to bad though. We pulled into Charlestown and the repair costs was 3,820 pieces of eight. We hired 3 crew, the store owner wasn't willing to let us do any merchant runs for him because of the problems we had with France. We can all but hope we can get some jobs from other towns in either a French or English town else where. We shall sail to Saint John's and see if we can find work there.

May 7th 1665 at 06:01
Saint John''''s to was not willing to offer us any work, we shall sail to a French port and see if we can get work there and build our reputation back up.

May 10th 1665 at 06:33
It seems not even the French are willing to offer me jobs, so we now need to find alternative way's to build our reputation back up before any friendly port will offer us any jobs. It is obvious that we will have to find other means to make money now, we shall see what the caribbean has to offer.

May 15th 1665 at 11:50
We purchased 204 units of sandalwood at 105 pieces of eight per unit. Its our hope that we can sell these on at a profit in Basse Terre where we hope to purchase copper to sell to Bridgetown giving us our own trade route.

May 20th 1665 at 09:12
We sold the sandal wood at Basse Terre at 245 pieces of eight per unit giving us a profit of 28,560 pieces of eight, the copper will cost us 295 per unit and we should make about 6 pieces of eight per unit. We may aswell make what profit we can whilest stocks are still available so we have purchased 363 units of copper and will sell them at Bridgetown.

May 25th 1665 at 10:08
sold the copper at Bridgetown making a profit of 3, 993 pieces of eight. Not much but at least its something. We have perchased 205 units of sandalwood at 21, 320 pieces of eight. The store owner is still not willing to give us any jobs so we still have work more work to do building our rep back up. We should hopefully be ready after a furthjer 3 to 4 runs from Brigetown to Basse Terre and back again. We shall see how that goes.

May 26th 1665 at 01:16
We have spotted a Dutch ship just a few miles out from Bridgetown, it is the Sophie so we will try to capture her and use her as our flag ship. At 04:20 the Sophie was ours, we searched the cargohold to be plesently suprised to see 14 units of gold, 42 units of gin and 14 units of molases. Obviously the Sophie is now our flag ship with our doctor taking command of the Barque. We need to make some minor repairs to both ships and hire some crew. We may aswell wait and hire the crew after the monthly wages have been payed. Sophie''''s stats, speed = 13.08, hull hp = 4723, cargohold = 2200, guns = 18 12Ibs and crew = 173.

May 29th 1665 at 0643
We will now take a few day's rest and pay the wages before hiring more crew and setting sail again. I have also decided rather than giving log info on everything that happens to us like trading we will only be logging the important events such as new ships purchased if any, encounters and such.

June 7th 1665 at 08:45
We was attacked by pirates in a Light Corvette and after a 4 hour battle they managed to get close enough to board. At about 12:50 ish the Light Corvette was our and is now the flag ship. Ships stats, speed = 16.04, hull hp = 9378, cargohold = 2610, guns = 32 24Ibs and crew = 340.

June 15th 1665 at 16:40
A dutch military fleet has been spotted, there is a Hannah P, Felipe (main target to replace Barque), Sloop Of War and a Crimson Blood (if captured will take up the 4th place in my fleet). We captured the Crimson Blood first which was far ahead of the Felipe, a half hour later and we was battling with the Felipe which was trying to get close to the small ships of mine. I boarded her quickly as she got close and captured her. The Sloop Of War which had at one point decided to sail away came back as we battled with the Felipe so after capturing the Felipe we boarded and sunk the Sloop Of War after looting her. The Hanah P sailed away and was not seen again. We shall now head to Bridgetown for repairs and sell the Barque giving the captain of the Barque the Felipe to sail.

June 24th 1665 at 20:48
On our way from Bridgetown we spotted a Dutch fleet of 3 ships, 2 Battle Frigates and 1 Frigate all class 4 ships. With this in mind we decided it would be best to ignore them as we are under crewed on the Felipe and Crimson Blood and will not be able to fight those ships.

July 1st 1665 at 22:32
We have spotted a English Hooker under heavy attack from 4 Dutch ships, Fearless, Greyhound, Fast Brig and a 40 gun Lineship. We have taken this as our chance to build our reputation back up with England and France. Then maybe they will start offering us jobs again. By 04:30 we had taken both the Lineship and Fearless. The fast Brig and Greyhound was both sunk. We lost many crew and need to make port for some serious repairs and hire more crew and fighters since the 3 we had are no dead.

@Luke, You seem to be doing well lad. :onya

@Fauntleroy, Mate your creativity is wonderful! :mi

"That nasty old nag took a slice outa my backside as big as a slice o apple pie. I still have them ugly scars for proof, was told by a lass once that it looked like someone bit my bum she counted 9 tooth marks back there, nasty horses I hates em."

:rofl

I challenge anyone to come up with a better story.

MK

Thanks, i'm having a blast sailing around the caribbean and so far i'm happy that only the Fearless has the cannon duplication bug which we can't fix yet. I wounder how many people will post there stories when they get hold of CMV3.2. :wp

July 21st 1665 at 03:20
It seems the Dutch have put a bounty on our heads after a bounty hunter attacked us, his ship a 6th rate 18 gun Pinnace. It was a slow fight, because we wanted to use this Pinnace as an example and build help improve our gunnery crew and there skills. We started off by taking the masts down, followed by grape shots to kill the crew and finally we began firing bombs to further advance our skills. After a 6 hour battle we boarded and looted the Pinnace of what we wanted and sank her. We lost 166 crew in the battle, the Pinnace lost 300+, and we lost 6 16Ibs cannons. So off we go for repairs and replace the lost guns.

August 10th 1665 at 10:00
The Dutch had sent more bounty hunter's which egaged us at sea as did 2 pirate ships, the bounty hunter's are using a Colonial Frigate whilest the pirates have a Sloop Of War and a Light Corvette. We are going to try and ignore these ships and sail to Bridgaetown which is 3000 yards away. It didn't go as planned as the pirates who was coming from the East was able to damage our sails enough to course concern, the companions was ordered to defend the fort at Bridgetown while i turned and engaged the Light Corvette. After boarding and sinking the Light Corvette the Sloop Of War sailed away so we turned to engage the Colonial Frigate which was behind us. As we approached the wind speed drooped and we lost a mast, after 2 hours of trying to move in close enough to board the Frigate we had lost half our crew. We had to make a choice, try to sink the Frigate or board and hope we can hold off the 400 strong crew with our 172 crew. We took the second option and we was able to hold them off taking the ship as a prize to replace the Fearless and become the flag ship with the Lineship been moved to the rear of the group as protection for the Felipe. We entered Bridgetown and made some repairs, but like all towns we have been to there was no weapons, medicine or shot types not even powder. We stopped for a few day's in the hope some would come in but nothing (this needs fixing).

September 23rd 1665 at 23:26
Another bounty hunter was spotted just outside of Basse Terre, only 1 ship this time. A Light Corvette, we decided to make a lasting impression for all bounty hunter's who attack us. We know it wan't stop them but maybe by making an example of one it might make them question there actions before commiting to them. We started by demasting the ship, the 2 companion's was ordered to attack firing bombs, i noticed they had split up one on each side of the Light Corvette so i ordered them to hold position since the Corvette was now demasted. The Corvette stood no chance and rather than sit far out firing at distance i ellected to move in close (just out side of boarding range) and fire broadside after broadside of grape shot whilest the companions continue'd to use either bombs or round shot depending on which shot type they still had left. At 03:08 we watched the the Corvette exploded after the last 74 out of 432 crew destroyed the powder room, perhaps this will give a direct message to all other bounty hunter's out there that we are not playing and will make examples of them too.

September 26th 1665 at 10:50
Whilest on our way to Tortuga after the battle on the 23rd for repairs and to sell some goods we had perchased from Basse Terre we got courght up in a storm. We took some serious damage and was lucky to leave the storm with all 3 ships still sea worthy, the good news out of this is we don't need to worry about the costs as we have over 2 million pieces of eight now. But the bad news is we did loose some crew and we don't know how bad this will effect the crews skills since we had spent a long time building there abilities up the last couple of weeks.

October 2nd 1665 at 08:45
The Dutch are persistant, rather than sending bounty hunter's they have sent 5 ships. 1 Lydia, 1, Fleut Of War, 1 Lineship, 1 Boussel and 1 Dutch Two Decker. We are not far from Tortuga and hope to reach there so should we take to much damage we are close to make repairs should we survive this battle that is. We know we can't aviod the battle as we are all low on powder and only myself and the Felipe have chainshots left now. If we can get some lucky shots off we might be able to slow the faster of the ships down enough to escape without a battle but the chances are very slim. By 09:45 we noticed there was very little chance of doing enough damage to the sails as we was to far away so we ordered the slower of the companions to sail away which was the Felipe. We can only hope they do not give chance and it they do that it will be one of the slower ships like the Dutch Two Decker which is not fast enough to catch her. The Lineship is slow aswell and we might be forced to order her to sail away or to engage the enemy whilest we try to escape. We hope we do not have to sacrifice any of our ships but are willing to do so if the need arises. 14:20, three of the five Dutch ships are going after the Felipe (Fleut Of War, Dutch Two Decker and Lineship) they look to be at least 1 knot faster than the Felipe so we will end up loosing her it seems. The Lydia and Boussole are chacing myself and the Lineship, it looks like this is going to be a tightly fourght battle and will mostl likely have to board these two ships in the hope to save at least the Lineship which is looking very much like a lost ship. 16:40 we captured the Boussole and set a the doctor as captain of our Colonial Frigate after deciding to take the Boussole as the flag ship. We now have powder and can start to take the Lydia down. We can clearly see the Felipe now over 2500 yards away is going to be lost so we need to do what we can to save the Lineship which is full of Silk and Rum to sell at Tortuga. We watched as the Felipe was boarded, loosing over 1000 units of silk and a lot of rum. We sailed to Tortuga where we sold the Colonial Frigate after hiring Olivier Levasseur who has a 4th rate Carrack. We now have the Boussole (flag ship) Followed by the Carrack and then the Lineship. Our repairs total bill was 111,000 pieces of eight. We are now going to speak with the diplomate at Fort-De-France to clear the bounty of our heads so we can get on with honest living. We might even purchase a letter of marque for England or France we are not fully sure which nation just yet. Most likely France as they are not at war with England or the Dutch, so we would only have the Spanish and pirates to worry about.

October 20th 1665 at 09:24
3 Spanish Chase Frigates have began attacking 8000 yards out side of Fort-De-France, we have no choice but to make a stand since we are too far out from Fort-De-France for the fort to help us. At 14:20 we had taken a mast down on one of the Chase Frigates, by 15:52 we had almost demasted her. Due to no powder left we was forced to board her, one of our compaions had lost 2 masts and was under heavy attack from the other 2 Chase Frigates we needed to improve the odds so we ordered our other compaion to load round shots and defend the stricken companion of ours. 16:36 and we had boarded and sunk the stricken Chase Frigate, we was now looking to do heavy damage to the other 2 Frigates and board them. 18:08, we have managed to board and sink the second Chase Frigate. With the last one nearbye we are looking to demast her and take her crew down so that it will be easier to board because we lost our fighters boarding the previous Frigate. After a long battle we boarded and sunk the last Frigate. It cost us 70,000 pieces of eight for repairs but we made 102,000 from the cargo we was carrying so it wasn't to bad. We hired some more crew and some new officer's.

November 1st 1665 at 12:00
We engaged a Spanish Schooner believed to be a pirate holding a prisoner who we have been tasked with rescueing by his wife. We boarded and sunk the Schooner informing the husband we was there to take him back to his wife. We are now heading to Fort-De-France to reunite the couple.

Thanks MK, sometimes I get a bit carried away.

v3.2 sounds great Luke159, I am looking forward to its release. It will be hard to stop playing v3.1.5 though.

Diary of Sea Captain, Lord Fauntleroy

I hope me personal scratchens nary fall into the crews paws or else I might have a mutiny on me hands. Been a few fortnight since me last entry buts I will keep err brief. The winters months have been a bit harsh on the whole crew, me included.

Foods was in short supply, had to put 3 outa 4 ships in dry-dock at St Martins. The crew was let go and my moneys are gone to the Port Authority for storage fees. Now just one lone ship and a grumpy hungry crew, we heads to Port au Prince for food supplies. After much head wind and hunger we finally made port with a captured pirate schooner we grabbed along the way. The food ran out a two days ago and a few men had succumb to starvation. My heart is heavy with these losses, being a Sea Captain is hard but carry on I must.

The hold is full o food and rum, the little pirate schooner is full too, she is a right fine fast little boat after repairs. Just as my luck would have it my heavy heart was about to be lifted. There, in the shipyard, sat a might fine lass. She reminded me o my dear departed grandmother. She had the shape of a rum barrel, a big around as she was tall and she had fire red hair.

She glanced at me, then her green eyes they sparkled like a fine emeralds in the mornin sun. What's a pretty lass like you doing in this place? I asked. She told me she was there getten a new peg fitted to her missin leg and how her daddy owned the local store and how she loved to bake rum cake for Sea Captains. Well minutes turned to hours and next thing I know her newly fitted peg is off and swinging from my captain quarters chandelier. Now I ain't one to kiss and tell, but you ain't had a lass until you had a peg-legged one you can't get your arms around. The next morn I said goodbye to my new friend and departed for Jamaica for some timbers, I just loves rum cake and fire red hair.

Well the God of the Sea must be smiling on me cause we where attacked by my dream ship, the beautiful Black Pearl. She fired at us, we took some heavy damage, Oh the beautiful sight of her made me mind wander, those cannon balls she fired seemed like lovely pearls and she was giving them to me because she loved me. I awoke from my dream and thought now is my chance "load the grapeshot we're going in mates I shouted, don't hurt her, don't hurt her, this is the prize girl of my sailing dreams ...!!"

Twas an even battle tween our two ships. We boarded her and plundered her crew, luckily. The Black Pearl is mine, all mine. Today is a very happy day indeed, this beauty has filled my every thought since I first sighted her and she fired those first few loving shots across my bow, and now she's mine. Now just get her to Jamaica in one piece and have her repaired. Then its off to sell timbers then back to St Martins then on to Bermudas for a right fine upgrade. Thank you God of the Sea for the blessings you have given me this fine day, thank you for the Black Pearl my days can begin anew now.

Lord Fauntleroy, March 4 1667, One day out of Port au Prince heading to Jamaica.

v3.1.5
-----------------------------------------------------

With CMV3.2 and 3.1.5 installed will you be doing stories for both games or are you comparing the games to see what has changed etc?

This is a new game because of testing.

It has been very quiet for the past few months with next to nothing special happening, a few battles here and there but nothing to write home about. The only battle that was of interest was the battle i had with a Schooner, at the time i was in a Ketch and needed a better ships. The schooner was a obvious choice, fast and agile with 20 guns and a decent cargohold. The other big factor is she can sail against the wind which is alway's something to think about early on.

March 6th 1665 23:10
I saw a battle between 4 English and 4 Dutch ships, thinking this might be a good chance to get hold of a better ship i engaged them. I soon found out that was a bad dissions as the Dutch had 4 powerful ships, 1 Sirius, 1 Heavy Fleut, 1 Intrepide and 1 Linear Ship. The English has, 1 Spanish Battle Gallion, 1 Colonial Frigate, 1 Linear ship and 1 La Couronne. This was going to be a tough battle for those ships, my plan was to get into a safe position and wait to see what happens maybe we will get lucky and be able to pick off a ship thats stranded after a boarding fight or something. We knew it wasn't going to be an easy battle and anything could go wrong but playing the waiting game sitting with the weather gage on our side would be better than trying to mix it with the big boy's. (some pictures)

23:52
We had reached a safe position with the weather gage now on our side we knew we could sit and watch with very little to worry about. We was still in range of there guns but but they was more interested in one another, who would honestly pay attention to a Schooner when you have the La Couronne and ships like that to contend with. It was clear the Heavy Fleut didn't want a part of this battle and was trying to escape but with the Spanish Battle Gallion on there tail it wasn't going to be easy.

We had rigged our sails and knowing this battle will most likely rage on through the night with very little change by morning i ellected to go and have a rest informing the crew only to wake me should anything significant happen or we ourselves are under threat.

At 06:08 i went backup on to deck and got a progress report. The Heavy Fleut had rejoined the other ships as had the Spanish Battle Gallion which was giving chase to her. No ships had been sunk but the crew are sure a ship or two has lost a mast after hearing the sound of what was something breaking away. I'm not suprised to still see eight ships battling it away, in fact i'm suprised the Heavy Fleut went back to help out as she originally looked like it was a no go for that captain. As i looked over in the distance i could see the mass sails and the smoke from the cannon fire, the sound had kept me awake for most of the night, in the end i was counting the shots as if counting sheep, pig's, cow's, gold nugets or what ever it is people choose to count when trying to get to sleep.

At almost 09:00 and as the fog lifted it was clear that the Dutch was loosing but even though so the English Colonial Frigate looked as if it was trying to escape with the Dutch Sirius giving chase. The Spanish Battle Gallion was still battling away with the Heavy Fleut which had no masts from the looks of it, the Intripde and La Couronne was having there own little battle and both Linear Ships was also battling away, from what looked to be a close fourght battle with all the ships been only 50 or so yards from each other they are all having there own little battles. And we are still sitting here thinking which one will it be we can try to take. The obvious choose would be the Fleut because its the weakest and will most likely be the weakest after been pounded by the Spanish Battle Gallion since 23:00 or what ever time it was this battle started.

Here are the pictures of the seperate battle's, look at the flags because the pictures will look almost identical to one another.

La Couronne VS Intripide
The La Couronne is looking to be in more serious threat as she's lost her masts but the Intripide has taken more damage.

Linear Ship VS Linear Ship
The English Linear Ship seems to have taken more damage than the Dutch Linear Ship but this battle could go either way and will most likely be decided by another ship getting involed.

Heavy Fleut VS Spanish Battle Gallion
From a distance it looks like the Heavy Fleut is out of it but its the other way around, the Spanish Battle Gallion has taken far more damage than i thourght and could well be the one that looses out. Saying that the Fleut can't move so could be pounded from a blind spot and she has less guns than the Spanish Battle Gallion. So this battle is far from over at the moment.

Colonial Frigate VS Sirius
You can see why the Frigate is running now, with 2 of its main companions now looking to be be the weakler of there foe's its left the Colonial Frigate with very little choice. The Sirius is more than a match for the Frigate on its own against the likes of the Intripide the Frigate will stand no chance.

Tune in next time to find out what happens. :razz

I just love to read this every night. All i want to do after is get my flag up and do some gold hunting :keith

Diary of Sea Captain, Lord Fauntleroy

Things been kinda slow since the capture of the Black Pearl. Summoned one ship outa dry-dock at St Martins, then removed and sold her cannons salvaged her cargo then sold her to pay for the Black Pearls renovation. Also been reassigning me crew-mates to new positions on the ship as they gains more experience. In the shipyard I picked up a fine little craft, a War Tartan, loaded her with gun powder, in case I needed to explode her. Might just fix her up in Bermudas if I has enough funds. That Tartan would make a fine little gun boat.

Loaded my beautiful Pearl and the big ship Danae's holds to the brim with linen, coffee, timbers, silk, leather and copper just in case, then plotted the course to Bermudas shipyard. Everything went smooth until we reached the rock shoal surrounding the Bermudas harbor, it's there we was attacked by two pesky pirate ships. This turned out to be a small blessing as both these pirate ships we did capture. Sold the canons and ships and salvaged the booty after some haggle in the shipyard.

Now ifs I ever laid me eye rude little swab it is that snot nosed scallywag in the shipyard at Bermudas. He tried to hornswaggle me on the two little pirate ships I was selling to him. My first mate suggests we gives him a bottle of some special grog we captured a while back from a French schooner. I was reluctant but agreed, and me first mate went and retrieved a bottle of the special grog from the cargo hold.

Bout that special grog
Seems that grog schooner was a slave trader and it appears those slaves the Frenchmen had been a tradin tried to git even with there captors by a sabotage of the rum supply. One of my crew opened a bottle of that French grog and reported the cork smelled of a most peculiar oder. He also reported the rum was yellow tinge in color which is most unusual for rum. I hads him marks those odd bottles so a not to confuse them with the pure rum. To this day nary one crewman has partaken of that captured yellow grog all they done so far is sniff them funny smellin corks.

Well my first mate took that special bottle of yellow French wash and gave it to the rude shipyard attendant. He tolds him it was the finest Spanish Rum he'd ever tasted and how we removed it from the cellar of a Havana merchant on a wild midnight raid and hows we was offered a kings ransom for a single bottle of this precious yellow cargo. My first gunner then informed the little louse to guzzle the whole thing as this was the best way to enjoy this finest of vintage Spanish rum, I then tolds him how this special vintage had a rather 'unique bouquet' and to pay no attention to that unusual yellowish color.

Well he did just as instructed and guzzled the whole jug o swill. Afterwards I gots a big whiff of that funny smell wafting out of his puckered clam-hole and it twasn't rum odor I was a smellin. Me crew mates and me just smiled and left him to himself and his newly emptied grog bottle and we headed to the tavern for an overnight rest.

Now in my room I felt a bit ashamed at me own actions. If that little clams turd had nary been so rude he would no have partaken of that special grog. I knows fer certain whats that funny smell on those corks is now and rum it ain't. I'll see tomorrow if the shipyard attendant wants anymore o that "special grog", as he can have it all.

The next few days was spent gathering supplies fer them upgrades to the Black Pearl and yes the little War Tartan. We did give all the "special grog" to the rude little man and me crew stacked those precious yellow bottles ever so nicely in the corner near the little snobs cot. Enough of that grog, finally, after much planning and hard work the Pearl is as fit as a fiddle and ready for her maiden voyage with all her new flash. Loaded up the cargo holds with exploding bombs and are headed to Port au Prince via Tortuga. Oh what a fast fine craft the Black Pearl is now. She's everything I had hoped for and more. She's a beautiful as a wonderful summer sunset and as tough and ornery as me own mother. Life is good, I love the sea.

Took that little War Tartan for a spin round the pirates bay after her refit, she's a fast un and turns like no other. I had much fun with her. Maybe I'll captain her for a little extra excitement, if I can find me suspenders.

Lord Fauntleroy, July 8 1667, half a day outs o Bermudas en-route to Tortuga then onto Port au Prince.

The battle was 3 Spanish attackers and one pirate ship. Being aboard the little Tartan was really exciting especially during the heat of battle. My other ships where defending me as I tried my best to help out. I just love this game, there I said it.

Hahaha, i like the grog, that poor shipyard owner at Bermuda must be blind, have a very poor sense of small with no taste buds and 2 brain cells which are both saying there loanly. The War Tartane will be interesting, we'll find out one day how effective your strategy with her will be.

New game
Game version = CM V3.2
Difficulty = Captain
Skill gain = Fastest
Charcter = Red Legs Greaves
Nation = England (for now)

On 1st January 1665 i set sail, my destination Charlestown. The journey took less than 2 weeks and i was tasked with delivering cargo to Bridgetown, this was to be my job delivering cargo to and from each port. I was a merchant with no intentions of fighting battles, i would defend what i had but if i could avoid the battle i would. I knew full well there was pirates just waiting to pounce at any given moment and the Spanish aswell as the Dutch was not on the best of terms with the English so i would have to avoid them to.

It was on Febuary 6th 1665 that i had my first battle, trying to escape i was forced to turn and fight. The enemy ship a Schooner, a 20 gun 6th rate ship with 4Ibs culverines mounted. The ship was flying the jolly roger and was fully crew. I was sailing the Edinbourgh a 14 gun 6th rate ship with 4Ibs cannons mounted. I only had 102 crew so i knew aswell as out gunned i was out crewed and the pirates was able to fire at a further distance than us. My ship the Wind Chaser had taken heavy damage to the rigging and some crew had been killed. With a lot of speed lost due to the damaged rigging i was forced to turn and fight. At the time i had no intentions of fighting anyone even if there ships looked to have better speed, agility and cargo space. The Battle lasted over 3 hours with both of us fighting for the weather gage. We had first damaged the Schooner's sails and then began firing grape shot at them, we knew the only was to escape would be to board her. The Schooner's are very fast and agile ship that can sail into the wind much better than a Edinbourgh. We boarded the Schooner and was suprised to find there wasn't as many crew as we thourght there was, we lost one of our officer's and 23 crew in the battle with a further 11 been killed when boarding. The captain of the Schooner wasn't so hard he lacked any kind of fencing skills and was easily killed. With his ship now in my hands i quickly moved everything over to the Schooner. We figured we deserved to take the ship and would come in very handy if we was to aviod any future battles.

The Schooner's cargohold wasn't much bigger than the Edinbourgh's but at least it was bigger. The ships speed was almost 2 knots better and could sail into the wind more easily. I set the only other officer i had as captain of Edinbourgh, i figured the more cargo we could transport the better. We may not have found anything to sell onboard the Schooner but at least we could carry more cargo thus make more pieces of eight.

On Febuary 13th 1665 we saw a guy sitting on his own in the tavern of Sain John's. It didn't take much to tempt him to join our fleet, his ship was a 6th rate Light Cutter with 12 4Ibs cannons mounted. We gave the captain the Edinbourgh to use and sold the Light Cutter. The officer we had placed onboard the Edinbourgh after capturing the Schooner was given his old post back as doctor (his navigation skills was lower than mine). We also hired another fighter and a treasure.

On March 25th we found ourselves been hunted by a pirate, with a companion with us in the Edinbourgh we attacked the pirate ship, she was a 5th rate Whydah with 30 4Ibs culverines mounted. We quickly boarded and captured her. Taking the Dutch Fleut as our flag ship we swapped the Schooner with the Edinbourgh signing the Edinbourgh to the doctor for the final time before selling her. I said we didn't want to fight but some times you have to accept, its the way of life her in the caribbean. If you want to become rich and make a name for yourself you need a good ship and to be ready and willing to throw down your life, we might not have made a name for ourselves with any of the nations but the pirates will know us and might think twice about attacking. I warn any pirate who does attack that if there ship is worth capturing we will capture her and kill all pirates we find onboard.

After a few day's sailing we reached Bridgetown where we sold the Edinbourgh and again the officer took his role of doctor again, we also found another captain willing to join us. His ship a 6th rate Hannah P with 12 4Ibs culverines mounted. Her cargohold is almost the same size as the Schooner's and has the same speed, now we can make a little more money but we can't afford to hire any more captains because we can't find the supplies we need to keep more than the 3 ships we have going at the moment. We haven't visited all the French twons yet and we are still yet to sail to Port Royal so maybe one of those towns will have the goods we need. Its mostly medicine, shot types, weapons and powder we are lacking. Food and rum we have plenty of as i like to keep 100 day's worth stocked up on all ships at all times just in case of shortages in the towns. I hear Tortuga is a town that exports medicine so i might aswell sail there and dstock up on them aswell. If only i had a warehouse where i could leave the goods i wish to stock up on for future use.

April 12th 1665 was a good day for us, we left Bermuda after sailing there to get a rough idea of how much pieces of eight we need to have to cover some upgrades for the Whydah. As we set sail to Tortuga to pick up some medicine which we was running low on we encountered a Spanish trade fleet consisting of 1 6th rate Xebec with 20 12Ibs culverines mounted and a 5th rate Dutch Fleut with 30 4Ibs cannons mounted. Of course we sank the Xebec which coursed a few problems as she was so fast but her rigging was soon so badly damaged she lost all advanatges she had over us. The Dutch Fleut was a simple board and see who wind. The Duct Fleut is no in the hands of our latest companion who joined not to long back, his Hannah P was sold for a small profit. Now with 2 fleuts in our fleet we can look to make more pices of eight a little easier, we are of course looking for a trade ship to replace the Schooner which we might put in dry dock for a while and use her as a trainning vessal for any captains we hire who haven't the ability to sail a ship higher than a 6th rate and because i like the Schooner.

April 17th 1665, we was just out side of Basse Terre when we found ourselves a small Dutch feel to attack. The Dutch had 1 6the rate Fleut with 18 12Ibs culverines and 1 5th rate Felipe with 30 20Ibs culverines. Both ships was not looking to fight as they turned and sailed away. We gave chace and found the Felipe to be the ship with which we was catching. After a 2 hour battle we boarded and captured the Felipe which was to replace the Schooner which was to go into dry dock at Bridgetown., the Fleut had sailed away so i orded the companions to rig there sails whilest i admired the Felipe. The Schooner was put in dry dock as we said at Bridgetown. Due to the speed of the Felipe been only just under 9 knots thats stops her from been the flag ship, i like to have the fastest ship as the flag ship and right now that is the Whydah followed closely by the Dutch Fleut. The Felipe needs a speed upgrade which we shall do once we have the pieces of eight required. That will take some time so we need to find ourselves a profitable trade route and start making the required funding for that upgrade, then the Felipe can be the flag ship.
