I can't give raises...?

I was boarding my ship when i appeared in my cabin and 3 officers said that they were not happy, wanted to leave, yada yada. That was fine. After giving them an overly courteous boot (seriously, i expected a pirate to be more miffed about his crew jumping ship), i decided that it might be a good idea to give those 3 fighters following me a raise. So i turned to one, and the voice clip said "I demand a raise!" but the text said nothing. The conversation dialog box was there, but empty. Then the game crashed. When i reloaded and tried another guy, the same thing happened. When i tried it on land, it was the same.

Anyone else having this problem?

You can only give them a raise when they ask for it. Those that ask, will have a question mark over their heads. In the cabin you are simply getting the default voice over.
