Apparntly you can only get the limited edtion if you preorder it so that's what I have done. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

I see gamestop now offers the limited edition for `pre-order`. Has anyone gotten a confirmation about whether or not he limited edition is only available online?
 
Yep, Jeff (ATARI) on Cutlass Isle mentioned that the limited edition will only be available online for $49.99 (same as the regular version).

Although another way they could have done it is have it in stores as well, but for a higher price for people that couldn't preorder...
 
All the major game store sites. EB games, best buy, etc. Ye can start to `pre-order` the game now. I'm not going too. It shouldn't be too hard to buy round here.
 
That stinks... I want the game the day it comes out. But I want the limited edition and it won't ship until release date, meaning I won't get it on the day of.

question: it's my understanding the limited edition is to come with the original pirates (or the original pirates <i>gold</i>. what is pirates gold? the original game plus what?). anyway, is that so? the original comes with the limited edition? if so, that means they have it working on current OS's (2K, XP). do you think down the road they'll offer it retail to everyone?
 
Pirates Gold is the version that was redone about 1992. It had some updated sound and graphics. I am unsure which version they are including. I hope that the include both, and that they are modified so that they will run on current XP.

I don't think they will repackage the Pirates! Gold for rerelease, if that is what you are asking. And I hope they offer the Limited Edition in retail...
 
Hmm Jeff said that it wasn't clear about the limited edition coming out of the US so I hope GP have got that sorted. I usually prefer to go down and buy it in the computershop in my neighbourhood.
 
Clearing up misconceptions about the Limited Edition

Hi everyone,

I'll correct a few misconceptions that I've seen floating around on the forums...

1) The Limited Edition is not being `pre-sold` at every store. The only ones I can confirm in the U.S. are EB and GameStop.
2) You can `pre-order` the game from the actual retail store itself (not just online), and that means you would be able to pick it up on the day of launch.
3) We are trying to manufacture only as many copies of the Limited Edition as there are `pre-orders`. (Since we're selling it at the <u>same price</u> as the regular edition, and it costs more to manufacture, we must restrict the total quantity made available.) While some retail stores may order copies for their shelves, the vast majority of the stores will only be carrying as many copies as they have `pre-orders`.

THE ONLY WAY TO GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL RECEIVE A COPY OF THE LIMITED EDITION OF PIRATES IN THE U.S. IS TO `PRE-ORDER` IT.

Stores like EB and GameStop will have special boxes in store with `pre-order` instructions starting within a few weeks.

Jeff what's the story with New Zealand? Gameplanet have got their pre order the Limited edition thing going now. Is it the same version the US gets? Or something else?

Hi guys, I was wondering if I will be able to order the Limited Edition from a place like South Africa? Or is it only going to be available from US sites? Really wanna get the limited edition but worried abiut shipping costs.....
