I need cheats

BradC

Landlubber
Ive never played though this game for the simple reason I have very bad hand eye coordination and can never win any sword fights. Please spare me any guilt trips, just give me the cheat codes and how to implement them.

Are you using any mods and if so: which ones? if you're using the Post Build 12 modpack, there already is a cheatmode built-in. Just open PROGRAM\BuildSetting.h and set ENABLE_CHEATMODE to "1".

No, I want to try the normal game out before I do the mod. But thanks for that info anyway.

Well, I finally managed to kill the two soldiers guarding Bedford, but I had to run away from the robbers in the jungle. Ill bet that the fighting difficulty has turned away alot of players from this game.

Speaking of cheats, I was reading that you can get free gold by going to a tavern and hiring a captain. If you have skill points as a captain you can continually tell him his price is too high, and he will keep lowering it till he goes into negitive numbers (which means he is paying you to hire him), and you can get as much gold as you want that way.

The fighting difficulty is a bit high in the stock game at first when you're not used to it. It gets better after practice. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
The Build 12 mod contains difficulty levels; on the lowest level, most of it is quite playable.

You can indeed get officers to pay you, but you need a high commerce skill (I think). And it would take a long time. And sometimes it doesn't work anyway. But it is possible in the stock game. Not in the modpack anymore though.

No offence, but I found it extremely easy.. Always blocking and swinging your sword when they're not.. :/ But the entire control set is harder to learn than other games. (That's a good thing; originality.) Having that Solingen Rapier at the START of the game under the docks with the mod is VERY helpful though. No matter how bad quality it is! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> You should check out that Falcion in the cave outside town... One of the better swords in stock game. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

As for money.. Capturing and selling ships (with an extra officer) is big money in the stock game! I've sold but a few and got to around 2 million. HEH.

in the stock game in the begining yes it is very hard to kill off mulitple enemies by yourself. the 4 in the jungle you mentioned are a random encounter thing. if you enter an area and see them run back the way you came and then re-enter that area until the 4 of them have gone away. it takes longer to make it anywhere but you don't have to worry about dying every 5 minutes. another way is to save every time you enter another area with nobody in it then move on. if you die you'll only go back one step on the path. and avoid travelling at night at all cost's as there are more random encounters including nasty monkey's that poison you.

i had to do this to begin with but once you get better melee <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" /> skills( a must in the stock game) you'll be able to take them on a lot easier. also remeber when you pick your party of officers to travel with you not to have weak melee <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" /> skilled men along as they'll die fast and horible deaths when figitng alone. and try if you can to leave them behind when bording another ship. nothing worse then fighting through a ship and taking control of it just to lose all your officers and have nobody to sail <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" /> it back to port and just let it sink to the bottom.

Thanks for those ideas Skite and Cap. Spectre. I just found about editing the character_init file so now I can start the game with enough skills and money to make up for my noobishness so I can figure out the game without dying/losing all the time. So far I havent won any sea battles, I hope I can get a handle on that.

Okay, fighting in the game is alot easier if you hange the controls.... the default controls suck! Change your movement to

Forward: W (Or Up)
Backward: S (Or Down)

And then change your fight mode controls to

Attack: Left mouse click
Block: Right mouse click

This way you can just block any attacks and when the enemy pauses between hits give him a good ole' hack 'n; slash. Its much easier, trust me.

By the way, does anybody have the coding so that you can continue playing the game after the completion of the main quest? I seen it somewhere before but i cant remember how ig to it.

Thanks <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Download Build 12.1.
You'll enjoy a better game including Playing past the ending.

Search for "Enable Continued Play After Winning Main Quest" on <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.net/content/blogcategory/19/73/" target="_blank">this</a> page. It should be somewhere on the middle of the page on the right hand side.

I think this game shouldn´t be played with cheats. Anyway, it is quite easy for playing contrary to the Russian Add-On. And furthermore I think if anybody don´t have enough patience for playing it without cheats, he should go better play something else. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Wahey! Guess what... I have another problem. Well, I completed the game and sent the Black peal to the depths. I eventually found that coding so you can continue playing so i thought i'd sack a couple of English towns for some fun. Easy, however! After ive took the town.... they all seem to be devoid of all living things apart from Greenford. Any ideas on how to sort this out?

Its a bummer cause it means i cant use the stores or go to the tavern because there are no people there.

Cheers.

That's what is supposed to happen. Quite weird that it doesn't at Greenford. If you attack a town, everyone will leave in fear of being killed either by your guns or your landing party.

Does anybody have another link to get the movie music in the game? When i try the one on PA i just get the following error:

"The document is being edited/updated by an user and is unavailable at this moment.1570!=0"

Ive been trying for a few weeks now and its always the same.
