OK so here is the deal.

I nailed me a nice fat french Man'o'war. So with the one i snagged off of a pirate for a governer mission i now have 2 of those.

But the thing is. I got the French captain hostage with no way to ransome him.

I can kill him, i can make him an officer, i can tell him to shut it and i can hit him. But i can not tell him to get off of my ship or get cash for him. I did however manage to get rid of my spanish prisoner by telling him that hes free. But that was before i got the french guy ^^

Now i landed on San Pierre (did i write that right o_O) and have heard rumors of a woman who lost her husband and hasen't heard from her son. So im kinda guessing its her i have to find.

Oh and it seems the Tavern keeper has the dialog of the merchant. And he allso sells stuff. But i cant get a room.

Im playing as Jack Sparrow BTW.

Which game version is this? Build 14 Alpha 8?

As for ransoming the officer, you need to go into a friendly port or something like that. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

It's still possible to ransom a captain, but the conditions to do so don't come up often. Yesterday was the first time I'd seen the ransom option since I started playing Build 14. I decided to fight the captain instead. Too bad my reputation didn't drop because of it.

Why is it that the conditions for ransoming don't come up often though? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Yes im playing build 14 alpha 8

OK so for the ransoming its hard. BUt that still doesnt explain how come the "let free" command is missing, be it on the captains native island or the high seas :s

Acording to all info i found on the ransome mod. You have to take him to his native port. Since hes french i took him to San Pierre.

As far as I know, that is indeed how it should work. Apparently it doesn't though. Yet something else for us to look into. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Well while you are at it. You can look into the San Pierre tavern keeper to. He acts like a store keeper. So you cant get a room in that tavern.

I didnt confirm this for any other storyline aside from Sparrow though.

'Saint Pierre'. 'San' is Spanish. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
