Installation problem, pleasy help! // solved

Hi,

I have just bourght PotC and where looking forward to play.
But at 43% the installations process stops at the file ..musictaverna.ogg and after a while this pop up:

Component transfer error
component: main files
file group: app executabeles
file: data2.cab
error: incorrect function


i really dont know what to do.. i have tried to copy the files to my harddisk, but it makes an error while copying data2.cab..

if useable here are my specs.. (short version)

Amd Athlon Xp 2100+
512 mb ddr ram
Windows Xp pro
128 mb Nvidia Geforce 4 - 440 mmx (newest drivers)
Newest version of DirectX

Hope someone can help me..

Hmmm, it sounds like a Windows problem... What kind of CDROM drive do you have?

I got the same problem many times when I tried to install, but I just tried to install the game from my `cd-burner`, and it worked! You should try that, that is, if you have a `cd-burner`...

my regular `cd-drive` is something cheap that followed the computer..

but i have a burner, so i'll try to install it from that way..

i'll post the output..

the trick with the burner helped - dont know why, but it dosen't matter...now i can play

That's why I asked about the CD ROM drive. Sometimes if they are older, they don't have the speed to interpret some newer CD's.

okay..

funnhy enough the burner is about 3 or 4 years older than the actual `cd-drive` (which is a 52x speed). But it worked..

generaly if you buy a complete comp set (ie all in one computer) you might get crappy stuff like cheap graph card, no name cd rom etc ...
