<a href="http://www.caribbeanislands.us/images/old-map-480.jpg" target="_blank">http://www.caribbeanislands.us/images/old-map-480.jpg</a>

Note how shore lines look like: thick line with many thin lines kinda giving illusion of depth. In addition... well, to be brief, I believe you should try to emulate look of this map <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> You've done a fine job with 'aging' it - now it could use some more details.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Yeah, I saw that map when I searched something for egsamples before starting work on it... That oxbay map is just WIP, I dont have anny build mod installed at the moment, so I want to work further on detailing it after I install latest buid, then I'm going to draw a paths and ect... Here is the latest oxbay map:

Personally I think having multiple maps for the game where we can purchase or create better versions of the maps would be nice. Like bad, okay, good and excellent quality maps, with differing levels of accuracy on each of them.

Yeah, I like the Idea... Something like the swords..

low lewel (shitty map), old, much used map, but still posibble to see something, no names, only little countour and Islan name, could look something like world map 2, but with added alpha, to be with some holes in the middle...

Middle, In world map Island with names, paper like from World Map 1. Island already have town names and beaches.

Hight level, expencive map. World map have also Names of Towns (or Just capital towns). Islands have all pathes and caves...

Yeah... My english is "perfect" <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Your ideas for the map levels sounds real nice. I like the direction you are going with these.

TY, nice to hear positive oppinions... <img src="http://forum.piratesahoy.net//style_emoticons/default/user_comment.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />

maybe the worst quality map should have a big hole at an important spot or something. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" /> would certainly give some amusement. also, the maps that show everything should be really rare for islands where this really matters, since there are a lot of secrets on some islands, like Hispaniola.

now i'm at it, i just hought of something else: maybe Artois Voysey should give you an actual map to the treasure instead of just directions?

Damm, that manny maps, and so little time <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Plz, someone, write here a list of map, that I should make (Pieter?)
Here's a list, that I noted I need to make:

Caribbean Sea:
Map-3.tga.tx
<ul><li>Caribbean Sea (4 files):
<i>Map-3.tga.tx
Map-2.tga.tx
Map-1.tga.tx
Map.tga.tx</i></li><li>Islands (11*4 files):
<i>IslandName-3.tga.tx
IslandName-2.tga.tx
IslandName-1.tga.tx
IslandName.tga.tx</i>
(Jamaica [Redmond], Barbados [Oxbay], Bonaire [Douwesen], Martinique [Falaise de Fleur], Granada [Conceicao], Nevis [Quebradas Costillas], Cozumel [Khael Roa], Aruba, Curacao, Eleuthera, Isla de Muerte)</li></ul>

After That... Mightbe It's possible to make treasure maps and ect... I even thinking about cityes maps...

It will be good, if someone will coordinate that, becouse I alreaady have lots of "?" in my head... With names or no? Make With diferent quality or no? With Isla De Muearte or no?

My tryings on map-3.tga.tx... need some work on detailing, just trying alpha...
<img src="http://i57.servimg.com/u/f57/12/87/19/25/map-310.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Very, very nice work Durnius. I'm quite looking forward to seeing this in game now. **grins**

So are you guys saying that it Isla de Muerte should NEVER be on the map, or only show up on the maps if you have Jacks Compass?

If the latter, there will need to be 2 versions of each map, one without Isla de Muerte and one with.

Cap'n Drow

naah, it would just appear on the worldmap. problem is, the compass doesn't actually work, so you'll have to wonder around until you blunder into the island, which sucks if you don't use the worldmap.

can someone say, did I painted the IslaDeMuerta in my map? 'couse I don't realy know, which island is it for now.

And no, It's easy to edit/remove/add island on my current work... all saved in lyers and grouped... (.psd File takes about 70MB <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> )

You meen Eleuthera???
<img src="http://i57.servimg.com/u/f57/12/87/19/25/seadog10.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Is it possible to make a map that DOES have the info?
Yes, that is VERY possible.
It's actually harder to make the text appear as you visit than to have it always-there.
Anyway, as far as texts are concerned, we could pretty much put anything there through code that we want.
Added plus is that we can also modify the names based on whether the Real Caribbean mod is on/off.

Isla Muerte shouldn't be on there.
Perhaps you've noticed, but right now in the Build 14 Alpha the names are also added through code.
Also Isla de Muerte does already appear on the map when you have Jack's compass! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
It'd be great to have a new worldmap that has the three new islands on it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

Different levels of maps might be a bit complicated and increase the modpack size further.
Of course we can handle a fair amount through code, such as the appearance of town names, etc.

You need Jack's compass to get there. It's North(ish) of Cayman. When it IS there, that is... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

one not though. SEE is SEA. Is that a map of very bad quality with grammatical errors on it? Would be fun though. Guadaloop... I don't see Guadaloop here captain <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
