Items List

You might consider RESOURCE\INI\TEXTS\ENGLISH\ItemsDescribe.txt a list of all items in the game. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

I have some items I have no clue about its purposes:

A glass of leeches from the apothecary in Greenford
A dead albatros
Mysterious Tattoos
Sand bags
Several mysterious bottles
A brown chest
A sapphire which only gives a commerce malus?

What is the purpose of this items? Are they quest relevant and I just haven't found the quest yet?

hint: <u>discription</u> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

there are some things that you couldn't know:

the brown chest and the three different mysterious bottles are the ingredients you need for a health bonus. you can find more info at the apothercary. i'm stumped that you managed to find all four of them! i have almost ever found a turpeth. one of the causes being the chests bug.

a dead albatross is a curse. it's very hard to get rid of it. it's just one of those evil things that the modders invented. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

sapphire: sell it! i personally never understood the commerce penalty of the thing. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

of most things, don't care about what it's for, sell it! it is usefull to read the discription to know if it's usefull. anything useless should be sold. in fact, it actually does have a use: cash!

A glass of leeches from the apothecary in Greenford
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
They can be used as potions against poison.

A dead albatros
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
It's a curse like Morgan Terror says: It gives a hit on your luck skill and is hard to get rid of. However, the Greenford Apothecary has some interest in it.

Mysterious Tattoos
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
You can get these at the Opium Den and they give you skill increases.

<!--quoteo(post=177920:date=Jan 4 2007, 03:55 PM:name=Roric)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Roric @ Jan 4 2007, 03:55 PM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->
Sand bags
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
If you equip it, you can use it as a blade. If you hit unsuspecting opponents, you'll knock them out, enabeling you to steal their items.

<!--quoteo(post=177920:date=Jan 4 2007, 03:55 PM:name=Roric)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Roric @ Jan 4 2007, 03:55 PM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->

To Morgan Terror you listen. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

A sapphire which only gives a commerce malus?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Get rid of it. I don't know why anyone added that commerce skill hit, but it's been there for a long time. Whenever I find any, I sell them as soon as I can.

the bottles he means are probably the other ingredients. acetum saturnum, tincturum laudanum (or something like that) and another one.

Yes they are. I was never able tu fing this turpeth thing too.

Thanks for the explanations.<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I'm not sure about those leeches. I can't sell them, can't store them in a chest and I can't use them. Are they only apear in your shortlist when you are poisoned? I'm very seldom hit by poison and due to "thoughness" it doesn't matter anymore.

Did you use these poisoned blades? I've done this in the very early stage of a game and not very often...

only poisoned throwing knives. if you put them in your weapons locker your boarders will have an infinte supply of them, as they have to return all weapons after the battle to the locker. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> they will throw them, but they will still be in your locker. handy eh?

Never understood it myself so I change it to + commerce in my game. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

seems like an excellent idea to me. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> the point is, i am always facing i sort of dilemma as those things are so pretty and shiny and i like pretty and shiny things. however, i always have to sell them because of that penalty. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

that was just plain dumb, right? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blah:" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

Actually, I didn't do it so much for the skill increase, but because, as you say, "those things are so pretty".

I thought of just leaving them as no effect to be able to keep them.
Then I thought, the diamond enhances skill and so does the emerald.

At my recommendation long ago, melee skill was added to the ruby as well.

So I figured, why not the sapphire?

yay, now i can keep my shinies! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> sorry, i'm in a rather silly mood today. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Not unless you change it in initItems.c.

Or until Pieter get's the idea to do it officially, hint, hint. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

That is an excellent idea, thanks a lot.<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/diomed.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dio" border="0" alt="diomed.gif" /> That dead Albatros? Why pick it up?
I leave it in the box and it hardly ever buggers
my luck points! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

actually, it gives -2 luck and -1 leadership. i never pick it up since i found out either.

I'm a collector, I just can't leave something. I just have to take it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

btw: What exactly has to be changed to make the sapphire a +1 commerce. I changed the -1 to +1 in iteminit.c it doesnt work. Anything else?

Ah, I forgot thanks.<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
