Johnny Depp/Jack Sparrow Model (Different Version?)

Tikigod

Landlubber
I guess this question is for any early POTC modders. I'm looking for a Johnny Depp/Captain Jack Sparrow Model that was modded for POTC a long time ago (possibly one of the first versions of sparrow to be released). I can't remember by whom because it was on the old/original pirates ahoy forums. It was different than the current Jack Sparrow included in the pre13 build. Does anyone have it? or know where I can get it? What I remember from the model is that it looked more refined...like the hair and jewelry was really detailed....you could see the bones in his hair and the clothing looked more natural....it was one of the first models released for sparrow....and I dont think it even included a picture for the character portrait in the menu screen...if it did it was different like a bad pic from movie....I rememeber when I installed build 10 etc....I used to swap out the models with the one I liked....but it was a seperate download and not included in Pieter's Modpack....if anyone knows if this file or version still exists please post it....I would like to add it to the current build. Thanks.

Are you talking about the stock Sparrow that came with POTC (but was reputedly hidden)? Only Sparrow I recall in Build10 was Kodo Boon's 'Depp' which is still in the build. I've yet to try out Maximus' aztec coin 'skeleton' jack yet in the most recent Build. Pity noone ever created a sparrow with hat and coat. I mean really the hat is best part surely?

Someone made that Sparrow model? I thought that was the hidden one that came with the game! Thought someone had funally made it useable... well, I'd like to see what the stock game's hidden Depp model looks like. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Same here, I would love to see a Sparrow model with hat and coat. I would also like to check out the hidden one. If you learn anything let us know how to access it please.

If you look at search results from 2004 (around the Build10) period mention is made of a Sparrow being like Will Turner in the game but locked. Posts from 27 April and 6 June 2005 from Pieter and Mings respectively suggest the presence of a Mad jack skin that predates the 'Depp' one made by Kodo Boon and the Sparrow variations made by Daede.

Additionally there seems to have been an attempt once by Duke Suraknar to make a Sparrow skin, and one from Grumblepunk to create one with coat and hat but I don't think they were ever finished. The modders in question long since vanished from the community. Maybe one of the folks from back then who is still around (Skull or NathanKell) would know? I didn't follow things closely enough then.

Well, it didn't have a hat or coat....the outfit was similar but, like I said it was more refined than what is in the current build. I remember it was created by someone because they said in the post that they had made it. So, it wasn't the hidden one. Maybe they used it as a guide. I'm not sure. I have it on my other harddrive that went bad...I recovered most of the files off it...I will hook it up and see if I can get my POTC mods off of it. Then I will repost it for the community to compare the two. Thanks for your quick replies.

There are the only ones I have ATM.

<img src="http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j67/SuoiveD01/POTC/Depp1.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" /> . <img src="http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j67/SuoiveD01/POTC/Depp2.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" /> . <img src="http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j67/SuoiveD01/POTC/depp_skel.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />

As far as I know, there are two versions of the Jack Sparrow: The first one is in Build 12.1 (this is the middle one in SuoiveD's post). The second version is in the Pre Build 13 modpack (this is the left one in SuoiveD's post). Both are made by Kodo Boon, but the one in the Pre Build 13 modpack is the better version. I know of no other Sparrow model. Except for Jack Sparrow Junior's skeleton Jack version (the right one in SuoiveD's post).

Aaaarrrgghh... Aye, it'd be nice to see Jack with hat. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/jackhat.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":j2" border="0" alt="jackhat.gif" />

Maybe long coat, too...

Cheers <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

What a coincidence, I was just working on a model of Captain Jack Sparrow with a coat.

Let me know what you think.

I've tried a number of head-swaps, but as of yet I've seen no model that I could make into Jack Sparrow with a hat. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Pirat5 and Storeman2 are the only likely choices. But Pirat5's hair is short and Storeman2's just plain fat.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Can't see much of a way past the hair issue. Really only the Kodo Boon and Daede models who have dreds at all. Was it ever possible to stick hats on other people's heads? I had a long read through the old threads where Petros, Mings, High Seas Lass, Alan Smithee, Verruckt etc worked wonders doing whole torso swaps let alone heads.

On another point, two detail issues I'd highlight if I may Mings (by damn I'm a cheeky cull me. I'll beg your forgiveness squire...) Sparrow's beard has only two plaits (how I'd like a beard that long, always end up having to cut it back..oh well maybe when I'm 40...) and should his coat not be a sun-faded greyish blue?

Captain Fabris,
Two plaits, I see .... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> I'll set two plates then... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

The coat, hmmm, <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> the picture I posted had to be brightenned so it looks a little more "plum" than it actually does in the game. I thought he had a brown coat? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

I recall how Sparrow's pants are greyish bluish, but one of the problems with that model is that when it is running the pants tend to "appear" thru the coat, and this effect is less noticeable when the pants are the same color as the coat. Back to Dexter's laboratory...

You left two notable names off your list, Catalina the Pirate and Inez Dias, but that is a fun bunch isn't it? I'm flattered to be included with them on your list, but I've never contributed anything as much as those guys did. It was always exciting to see what they were coming up with, especially with their collaborative efforts.

Harrrr! Sir Mings,ye be to modest ,ye 'ave contributerd more than ye thinks mate <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Nice work there, Sir Christopher. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Looking forward to seeing how you progress with this one.

Cheers <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Aye, two plaits it be, two rather fine and dainty plaits at that, not these horrid chunky plaits much beloved of heavy metal fans (but that's enough about their hair.).
Hmmm I begin to wonder whether my laptop's screen does some rather odd things with colours. I'm fairly sure the coat is blue though as I have a nice picture (from somewhere) of his entire outfit on a hanger as if in a museum exhibition or some such. Can't for the life of me recall where the shot is from anymore than the pictures of Depp in makeup wearing a rather loud purple shirt and longsleeve stripey t-shirt while he fiddles with his wig.

Ahh yes. I did indeed forget Catalina and Inez Diaz. Unforgiveable really, especially since Inez Diaz at least, is still seen in these parts from time to time. Er..no offence dear (if you happen to read this)...I'd worship at your feet but for the restraining order... Ahem, your modesty does you credit Sir Christopher but not half as much as your modding work. I agree wholeheartedly with Skull on this point (this isn't to suggest I disagree on any other points...BTW. Always found Skull to be an argreeable chap with sound opinions). I equally await your handiwork with considerable interest.
