Just another mod idea.

Actually no, it's not exaggerated. Yes, I admit, Singapore is an excellent country to live in... but like I always say, only if you have the money and if you're a true patriotic citizen that never ever question the government (For Singaporeans, we're 'trained' like little puppies to obey the government, so it doesn't matter if we're patriotic or not). But this is the grim reality. Whenever you hear about other countries, you'll usually always be told the good side or the country's government version of things (Unless the country's your enemy, then your country will probably talk about all the bad stuff, prime example would be Malaysia under the `ex-prime` minister)

Singapore is nothing like a communist faction, and we're certainly far from being a democratic nation. Democracy is what our governments tells the world about us. As for being very westernised, this credit goes to the British, even now, the way we build our buildings and our layouts, we're still following how the British used when they came and turn us into a coloney. (And not to mentioned how the person who got Singapore it's independance, studied in Britian. One really wonder how our government can turn into something like we're now when we're so 'British' in every other aspect)<!--`QuoteBegin-alan_smithee`+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(alan_smithee)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Maybe other countries get Singaporian news... The only things that have ever reached us here were the caning and the gum ban thing, and that was only on the "news of the weird" page. But I wonder if it's because outside journalists aren't allowed much access, or simply a fat lazy `self-centred` American lack of interest in everyone else?[/quote]
My guess is that it's probably both. Then again, it's probably more towards the - Singapore is too small for anyone to have an interest in. `Tee-hee`, and noticed how I always mentioned the word 'money'? Our government really have us trained...

bah... another "news of the weird" article in the paper today about Singapore, this time on its newfound fascination with... country western linedancing. It quotes people saying Singaporeans enjoy it "because they're good at following the rules and staying in line."

I'd like to split off this topic but I'm deuced if I know how! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> As you were... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Well, there were Asian pirates... and most of the `modern-day` piracy is comitted in that region, right? Erego, by the transitive property, or something, it's all still somehow salient.

But while I'm waiting to see if the thread continues, I'll keep things apropros of modding by pitching an idea I had last night:

People have asked before about having your own royal room somewhere on the island of whatever country you're serving, where you'd find your wife or mistresses and maybe stay a few days. I'd like to put such a room on each of the major colonies (like reuse Silehard's bedroom, with slightly different decor; it could be "linked to" from within governor's chambers, or else be in a nearby building), if I knew how to change the location for a wife/mistress, once acquired, from the governor's pad to there.

I'd also have to know how to make the room only unlocked when you're serving that nation.

Oh the discussion is no problem, really, I just thought it might do to have its own topic title over in the Burning Brig. <shrug>

Carry on! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
