keeps crashing

Long John

Landlubber
Though this may sound trivial to you guys, it's very annoying to me... when I play my game crashes about every five minutes... some places it just keeps crashing, for instance I delivered a buttload of illegal goods to the smugglers in falaise de fleur, the soldiers came, and i pounded their ar**s, now when I want to return to my ship to sail to Redmond to fence off the rest of my goods it crashes... just after the loadscreen before I can manually sail my ship out of the bay...

I followed another persons advice about how to enable errorlogs, but I cant seem to find it... so either I've done something wrong or Im going blind (and my PC too, since I just made a search in windows for the error.log)

my computer should be more than capable of running the game (2 GB RAM, AMD athlon x64 dualcore 4200+ processor, Geforce 8800 GTS graphics card 640 MB RAM)...

Does anyone know how I can find out what the problem is and correct it?????

please help a fellow pirate who can't find a shaman to commuicate with his PC

i just stated having the same problem too. similar scenario. i bought ebony in isle muelle, sailed to to greenford and went to the tavern and spoke to a smuggler. met them at a beach and completed the deal. sailed to redmond to fix ships and when i tried to sail away in world view the game crashes to desktop. i also can't berth ships even after confirming the code is correct.
build13 update 3.
still a fun game!

bump........anyone else with a similar problem?

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />  The Error logs are generated into the Mainfolder and the Settings for it set
in the Engine Config file residing in the mainfolder. Nothing is put anywhere else!
Can't help you with the crashes. I have not played the game for a while but if you install the
game as per instructions those problems should not excist!
I've got the US version and it goes like this: Stockgame, Build 12.1, build 13 full, Build 13/3.
Make sure your game runs without problems between installs! Run the runme bat between
installs and don't worry about any errors that file comes up with. Some files will disappear
between the updates and runme. bat can't find them for that very reason. It is to put the file in the correct order! Not doing that generates errors!..... and do yourself a favour, do not put
any updates or fixes into this setup!! Some Modders come up with "fixes" doing more harm than good. During Gameplay do saves, a lot of them, so you can go back when something goes wrong! If you want to carry on with 14/6 use the Mod Enabler (link in my sig.)
14/7 is a bid of a Disaster as a lot of "fixes" to be used to make it playable. If you can't help yourself and have to try it anyway use the Mod Enabler! I can't stress that enough,
It takes a lot of work out of reinstalling and it comes with a very good HELP file and is
easy to use. Remember 13/3 is the most stable Mod but does have some bugs!!
Read thru old posts as all your problems have been there before and somebody had a fix for it. Our Moderator Pieter Boelen is away 'till end of August and since his departure
things have fallen by the wayside. I usally pop in here once a day and see whether I
can be of any help. Have fun and don't dispair if something goes wrong! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />

got my bug to go away last night.......very wierd though. in order to CTD i would fasttravel from port to store and buy 3 shiphold's worth of ebony in IM, then fasttravel back to port, set sail, sail in world map, CTD. lastnight i went from port to shipyard, repaired all my ships, then to store to buy ebony, then to port. no CTD, works normally.
don't know if it helps, maybe change your sequence of purchases and places and events?

had a CTD again lastnight....but i found reliable work-around. after you complete the deal with the smuggler, go back to port and fix your ships at shipyard. for whatever reason, my ships need to be 100% repaired before i can sail in worldmap.
hope it helps.
