This one is about Knights of the Old Republic, or Kotor. A very good game, in my opinion, and definately worth buying. The storyline is one of the best Ive played, and the choice to go light or dark is very realistic. The dialogues, the pleading and the guilt trips from the rest of your crew can make you feel guilty about doing the evil thing.

The backstories and lives of your crew are very well made, and you do care about what happens to them.

The plot is a simple "save the galaxy" quest, but is still very interesting and well worth it, because of the numerous unexpected twists, and what you do expect is either wrong or very well done.

Im not such a fan of Kotor 2 because of the unfinished ending, but thats not for this forum.
 
yup, one of the best crpgs and one of the best of star wars series (come to think of it, maybe even the best - well maybe x-wing and tie fighter can compete. and dark forces/jedi knight series). I personally find second part slightly better - but i agree that they hasted a little and lots of stuff had been cut out. Luckily, there is a mod in production called kotor2 restoration project or something like that, hope those guys will be able to repair the game:).
 
The gameplay of Kotor 2 and the story of Kotor 1 would make a perfect game. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />
 
I'm still working my way thru this game on the Xbox and it is interesting, but I start to miss POTC every time I get into a fight. I feel that to a certain extent I am watching the game play itself rather than it letting me interact with the encounter.

I haven't gotten terribly far as yet, trying to figure out how to get past the rancor, but I bet I like it better when I actually get to be a Jedi! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />
 
i personally like the way fight goes in kotor. as a fan od rpg games and game master for several systems for several years, i just enjoy watching numbers changing ;>
 
Heh, listen to Mission, shes already told you how to get past him. Alternatively, you could use the option to put items into a target, (it gives you much exp.)

My advice is to go to Korriban first (no, Im not mad) and talk to Yuthura, and ask her the sith code, and then say "I think I got it" a load of times, for infinate exp.

I wont give away anything other than that.
 
HKD, you could give away a spoiler, but I would just as likely have no recollection of what you were referring to, Korriban? Yuthura? me and me mateys filled it complaining about kotor 2 and removed content. maybe u'll be interested in doing the same:)

and back on topic, kotor is easy enough without cheats - gaining inf exp ruins the game.
 
but where is logic? if i want hardcore difficulty, i don't cheat because i want hardcore difficulty:) what is the point of installing hardcore difficulty mod and then, using cheats, bringing difficulty down to easy?

Heh, good point. I used that to get to a higher level, and besides, you need that if Korriban is your first planet. Ive modded it quite a bit, so some things are more difficult. What I meant was to do that so you are on a high enough level to play on Korriban without it being impossible, but I dont do that much because it takes ages to do, but I found that it made it easier on the person playing. It was just a tip, if you dont want to use it (it takes hours to work it to get a good level for Korriban anyway) thats fine. Sounds like these games could prove better than the new movies and books combined. I'll have to look into this...
 
I think KotOR is better than some of the movies for these reasons:

1, Its interactive
2, The good guys dont have to win
3, The characters can be explored in a lot more detail
4, The little extras or surprises can keep you going for hours
5, Sometimes you feel a bit guilty after doing the wrong thing (evil stuff) and your party know exactly how to make you feel guilty (or maybe thats just me being incredibly sad <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> )
