L'Hermione has been back at sea for a few days now, putting her prototype engines to the test. So far, from what I have read, everything seems to be running smoothly and she will soon continue her sailing trials and crew training. It is not just the ship and equipment that are undergoing trials, the crew of 54 volunteers will also be put through their paces as well. There is quite a lot of work to be done onboard a ship at sea, and while L'Hermione may have some modern conveniences, she is still at heart a sailing vessel and requires all the upkeep and maintenance the original ship did.

While the long stopover in La Rochelle did unfortunately cancel a scheduled appearance in Brest, it has had the effect of adding a couple of days to the planned stopover and tours in Bordeaux. Originally scheduled to arrive on Oct. 9'th, she will now arrive on Tuesday, October 7'th. The schedule change is mainly do to challenges of navigating the tides and sailing conditions in the Gironde estuary. They will begin public tours on the 8'th that will run through the 12'th of October. L'Hermione will leave Bordeaux on the 13'th and head back out to sea for a couple of more weeks of trails, and then head back to her dry dock in Rochefort, France.

Here is some video shot onboard of her leaving La Pallice on Monday.

Here is a couple of videos of her with some of her stay sails set near the town of St Denis d'Oléron on Tuesday, September 30, 2014. She appears to be moving under engine power. Unfortunately they appear to have been taken from quite some distance, but they are the first videos of her I have seen since launch in early September.

And a short video of a speed boat approaching her as she lies anchored in the sluice of Antioch near La Rochelle, between the island of Ré and Oléron.
