Limiting ships to certain nations

Yes... Good Periods...

*hurriedly looks up the periods Commodore John-Paul Jones mentioned on Google*

Which is Napoleonic?

I like that idea! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate_plain.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p3" border="0" alt="pirate_plain.gif" />

Do we have another ship to look forward to from <i>Petros' Shipyards</i>? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

I don't know. Depends on how quickly I can get the work done. Part of it is done, part of it isn't. I need to finish that shipslist. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

This mod will be slightly changed. We need to define:

<b>- For each era the chance for the ship to appear:</b>
refShip.period0 = 1.0; // The Spanish Main (1600-1679) - ship is common
refShip.period1 = 0.9; // The Golden Age of Piracy (1680-1739) - ship is slightly less common
refShip.period2 = 0.5; // Colonial Powers (1740-1769) - ship sometimes appears
refShip.period3 = 0.1; // Revolutions (1770-1789) - ship hardly appears at all anymore
refShip.period4 = 0.0; // The Corsican (1790-1820) - ship doesn't appear anymore

<b>- For each nation the chance for the ship to appear</b>
refShip.england = 1.0; // Ship is common for England
refShip.france = 0.5; // Ship is sometimes used by France
refShip.holland = 0.1; // Ship is hardly ever used by Holland
refShip.portugal = 0.0; // Ship is never used by Portugal
refShip.pirate = 0.0; // Ship is never used by pirates

Anybody willing to come up with values for the ships already on my <a href="http://s31clan.com/privateftps/pietersmods/ships.htm" target="_blank">shipslist</a>? I will try and finish the full shipslist in the meantime.

I updated the <a href="http://s31clan.com/privateftps/pietersmods/ships.htm" target="_blank">shipslist</a> again. It now contains all ships up to LuggerVML including the newest additions (109 in total). I still have 56 ships to add. Not counting any ships I have not yet added to my game version.

few things:

what's the difference between the two bermuda sloops?

is that corvette4 used for anything yet? i haven't seen it before.

is that AOP riding off a wave or is it really at such an odd angle?

The normal Bermuda Sloop cannot fire its swivel guns, but the Super Bermuda Sloop can, therefore the Super Bermuda Sloop has more cannons than the regular one. In other words: The Super Bermuda Sloop is overly strong and I think should only be sold from Vanderdecken shipyards.

As far as I know Corvette4 should indeed be used. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

That AoP WHAT? Seems like there's a word missing. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_confused.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="icon_confused.gif" />

AOP galleon.

the other sloop sounds really interesting. could also be some really good pirate vessel. like a smaller, faster vessel pirates like to use but then with loads of guns, basically designed to loot those bigger ships.

The Super Bermuda Sloop is already in Build 13 even, so everybody has it. Only it's been turned off by default, because it'd got too much cannons for its size and would be too much of an uber-ship. That's why he is now only available from Vanderdecken.

FastGalleon1 and 2, you mean? I see what you mean. I think I just had weird timing when making those screenshots; I recall it looks normal ingame. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

if the super bermuda would have a high class defined, it might not be so off-balanced. though i'm happy with being able to buy it from that mouldy character.

Another 21 ships added to the <a href="http://s31clan.com/privateftps/pietersmods/ships.htm" target="_blank">shipslist</a>. 35 more to go.
What do I have to do to get you people to come up with values for this?<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec--><b>- For each era the chance for the ship to appear:</b>

i don't quite remember what i wrote down earlier concerning the ships, but the galleon should be 1.0 and 0.3 for the first to periods. shouldn't occur later on. caravel is 0.4 in the first period, i think.

Despite my limited knowledge, I will use google and try and make a word document of each/most/some ship's values.

i've already made a list of how common which ship is where, but without values. it would help you a lot to just look that list up, though i don't know where it is. maybe in this topic.

I don't want to make the list myself. It's a lot of work, especially for someone like me who doesn't have much historical knowledge. Not to mention I've got plenty of other things to do.
While we're at it, there will probably be another period: Early Explorers (1500-1599).

feh.... i'll have to look through me book again for that period then. and we'll need a few more old ships too, i think.

Sounds fine to me. I could easily rename that if nobody has any objections. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />
Do you have any thoughts of values for the various ships? Thomas the Terror did some, but it's a lot of work and we can use all the help we can get on this! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />
