Arghh, I give up, this f*&(ing dancing is hard, cannot win and have not been able to since game start, it is much to fast, are they going to look at this in the next patch?

If you think dancing is hard, try dancing, AND singing at the same time. Its no wonder boy bands and Britany Spears are idolized as the top tier of what humanity has to offer when you take that into context. I mean, imagine the raw god like brain power that goes into dancing, AND singing. I know I could not even attempt to dance and sing at the same time, let alone at a skill level that would net me millions, upon millions of dollars. And it would be worth no less then millions of dollars, because of all the hard work they put into their dancing and singing degrees, at dancing and singing university, not to mention the tuition.

Why are so many people having trouble with the dancing? It isn't any harder then the fencing. The first few times I danced I made a ton of mistakes, but since then I never fail. Look at her hands and press the button as soon as you can. If you press the wrong one, press the correct one and it will usually still work. Don't worry anout the beat. Once you start passing regularly you can worry about the flourishes. After awhile you will also start to memorize the patterns.

I wonder if experience with 10 key makes a difference. Who out there that finds dancing easy also knows 10 key? Conversely who is having lots of trouble and has never had any 10 key experience?

There's no need to patch dancing. There are other areas that need patching more than dancing, like speed of landbattle. I agree it's no more difficult than fencing. You just need patience and more practices. If you fail, leave the town and come right back, again and again. After a while you'll get better. It's actually a quicker way to get ur fame up than robbing ships.
 
That is really the hardest part of the game, I must say. I'm getting the hang of it though, as I'm starting to remember the different versions of the dances by heart, but I'm in trouble with those sudden forwards and backwards movements...

I've no idea what 10 key even means... Or any other key, unless they refer to pass phrases or to keys that open locks...
 
`10-key` is being able to type on the number pad without looking, just like someone that can type without looking. It's a skill used on accounting calculators or by those that use the num pad on pcs alot.

Well I have to agree with the above statement, it is the forward/backward movementwhich is where I come unstuck, I suspect it may just getting used to the num pad, did I mention I am a one handed typist <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I also agree that with practice one may improve, but if you look at the dancing, you can be going really well and once you stuff up it is like the babe is pushing you every which way, thats where I drop the ball everytime switching from sudden movement forward or backward.

Lets face it the dancing is the toughest part of the game, the fencing I have no trouble with.

Don't you know that "a sailor have a lady in every port" so don't you worry about dying alone if you get too old. Use the "pause" button thats above the page up button and the scroll lock button, that will help you I bet.

Dont the Buttons in the right hand corner light up to tell tou which one to press? Thats how i dance, or doesnt it do that when u get to later stages of the game?

Just keep trying, I sucked at first. Right now im at 20+ uniques and have the "Dancing Slippers" and I love em <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Makes it much easier. It just takes practice like everything else.

My hole life I will hate dancing. Maybe I´m not born for that. If its Pirates! or Realife. I`m very talented in stumbling over my own feet. Without this special Items "Dancing Slippers" etc.. I think I will dye alone. Now there was one lady that likes me. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

The buttons don't light up on the later difficulties. I have also found the dancing extremely annoying and much much harder than the fencing. Usually with fencing I can win just by repeatedly hitting the 7 key over and over. I have such a hard time seeing what the hell her hands are doing. It's too hard to keep up. I will try using the Pause key like someone suggested, that could help a lot, let me catch my breath so to speak. I even have the slippers, the do help a little, but not enough for me. Apparently this Pirate has two left feet. (Since when did Pirates need to know how to dance to get women anyways??)

Straight from the book, page 69:-

If you possess the Calfskin Boots special item, there's a chance that you'll perform the correct maneuver even if you make a mistake. Dancing Slippers give you an even better chance.

Funny what happens when you read the book, you can all thank me later, now to find those two items
