Need Help Loyalty

backrow

Powder Monkey
Hey guys,

I've searched the forums extensively, i understand there's problems with it, but for crying out loud, is there any way i can stop my honest officers loyalty from dropping after every time i get attacked? it makes no sense whatsoever.

I'm using the latest GoF (great mod, btw!), i am willing to mod/experiment etc, but this has really getting on my nerves. "oh this tiny albeit fast pirate ship is attacking us, let's stay keep on sailing and ignore them (in the sail mode) because we really shouldn't hurt them poor, misguided lambs "... i mean, wth, my officers are corsair captain such as Lawrence B. and he has such qualms over DEFENDING ourselves? i wonder how he ever made captain!

I shouldn't be limited to bad guys if i play an honorable character, serving England and not my own interests and NEVER attacking anyone who didn't have it coming (quest ships whose captains indulge in a little kidnapping on a side).

Any help is deeply and truly appreciated.

PS again, love the mod, very thankful for it.

Hmm... Havent heard of that usually my Officer's love for me goes bad after a certain period of time after I've plundered alot of ships. Hmm Do you kill prisoners? ( If you have any) Ever attacked a Citizen?.......Really after a while of plundering ships, since I belong to no nation I attack everybody-eh its fun and profitable thats when my officers go from Normal to Rebellious. I usually get rid of those officers by making them my fighters when attackin huge ships ;). Other if you attacked a innocent citizen, failed to deliver, escort or transport somebody anywhere I cant think of a reason why its doing that.

no, nothing of sorts, Buck.

i've been a model citizen! the only ships i've plundered (and were forced to sell, unless they surrendered) were the ones that attacked me. i have noticed that sinking ships makes for a even bigger drop in loyalty, seemingly to bad and good guys.

i haven't failed a single quest, rescued maidens, i'm even polite to drunks in the taverns. that's why it's irritating that my honest sailors and heroes think it's somehow wrong to defend myself (and saving them in a process).

ALright, say you get attacked by a Pirate lugger, You kill the crew , take the cargo Now prisoners It shows 2 options for surrendered Sailors To keep them as slaves and throw them overboard, Same With captain What to you do with a prisoner? Do you ransom or kill em. Usually for me letting prisoners go free increases rep and Maybe Officer's loyalty. Well all I can think of is try delivering cargo for merchants, Transporting Passengers on time, Or escorting Merchants to their desired location.
What is your reputation? I'm a Bloody Assasin. It could be because of rep... I dont know.

my reputation is good, honest captain or some such. i've only ever had one ship surrender (other than the ransom offer when i break their masts) i guess i will try and raise the surrender ratio in the settings, in order to be able to release them and the surrendering captain and get some brownie points with my good guy(s).

Hmm... haven't played the gof mod for some time but i played the bad guy career (selling captured crew as slaves) and the good guy if i had a captured crew and or captain i let them go on land. And the results were okay like + moral if i do bad things for the bad officers while it went down within the good officers and the other way around.

still the loyality don't go up or down that fast so you should have plenty of opportunity to hold a crew that fits your playstyle. if you wanna go for bad deeds you should stick to bad characters only, really its the best. if you mix a crew with honourable and scoundrels it doesn't work so well so pick a style and you are fine. the regular sailors as you know for sure change moral in fafor of the crew officers that are mostly seen in your crew.

so 3 bad 1 good 1 neutral (reg. sailor) with a bad deed the neutral one will also agree with your doing.

;-)

thanks Joe. really, i am about to give up on Beltropa, my only good officer at this point as he's never happy! i turned the surrender fully back on (does it work without a new game?) and i'll try to get his loyalty up a bit. we shall see. funny that even playing as a straight edge, i can only keep the baddies happy (due to the fact that good guys seem to hate killing a crew of a ship, regardless of a fact they attacked us first), no amount of maidens i save or quests i fulfill changes that (much). there's just so much more battles than anything else i can possibly do and at some point i am going to be tired of running away from a single ship just so one of my guys hates me a little less...

such is a life of a (honest) pirate...

Well that should work, I'm getting into the main Coas Quest I stored all of my good cargo ,ships and good officers in Port Control. Since When you enter Coas All of your officers are lost I'm only taking the officers that really hate me. :D Gives me a chance to finnally get rid of those guys. Well Good luck... P.s. If you dont like having So many ships attacking you ,try starting new game with Standard in Ship Encounters , See if it works. If You already have Standard I Have nothing else to say..

Yes I played on few encounters and modded the value even lower so pirates attacks are few... this helps, you need to restart your career to make it work... not sure about that though.

As said mate you should not mix up officers with highly different moral. If you only have officers with the minimum "trusted sailor" and above, good deeds will increase all their loyality if you have just one bad guy in your officer crew the calculations are not that clear anymore... one could say tha bad guy spoils the happyness *hehe*. Definitely a little more difficult to get an all good crew and be a pirate with honour but also quite some fun I think.

Things that increase the loyality of good officers
+help a maiden in distress
+capture an enemy vessel (lowers loyality a little but releasing the crew and captain on land gives a bigger boost in loyality I guess)
+fullfill the side missions (escort and passenger delivery)
+releasing slaves (from a captured vessel which had them as cargo)

A good way to get rid of officers you don't want due to their low loyality is select them as captain for a moored ship, this way this fellow don't cripple the moral of all other good guys in your crew. Hope this helps a little more.

yup, definitely Joe. if i leave an officer with a HORRIBLE loyalty moored somewhere, is he going to try and steal my ship?

also, if i release a unique officer (one of the companion captains, does he cease to exist or can i try and recruit him again after a while?

PS how can i release slaves in the port? since ships never surrender to me (well, once and i refused :x . but i have learned the error of my ways since) i guess that's how i never see that option.

Well you really cannot release slaves-only the imprisoned Captain, If you take slaves you can only Throw them overboard to save space , Sell them in Bermuda, Or to Smugglers which makes better profit or you can invite them to your crew. Just be sure if you collect alot of slaves be near a port as they tend to get out of hand A.K.a Slave revolts where a group of slaves attack you and your officers its easy but annoying.

oh now you made me want to get enough slaves for them to mutiny!

but yeah, that's what i thought, i always keep a few slaves and replace losses with them, not too many but usually between 5-10. i try and not sell them worried it may be seen as a bad act. my second playthrough i will be sure to recruit only scoundrels, then i can at least defend myself while also maintaining a good rep. as long as i plunder ships, i'm sure the bad guys won't mind!

still wondering if released (unique as in companion captains) officers respawn after a while so i can re-hire them?

Usually a Companion If you leave him, or if he dies the companion usually can be found again. Only reason I sail in consort is to loot them of supplies. For instance I took in John Silver for a Consort, and I looted his ship of ammunition, sails, planks, food, rum, powder, and medecine, and his crew. Then I sold his ship and sailed off looking for another sucker to loot. :ship It may make my officers hate me but I just don't care!

oh buck what a way to play sounds familiar did that as well but as honest captain one should not do such things *smiles*

I think not a moored captain is sleeping so to say but if you rejoin make sure to remove him instandly from being captain otherwie he might revolt and steal the ship or fight you or both.

also, if i release a unique officer (one of the companion captains, does he cease to exist or can i try and recruit him again after a while?
if he dies he might be gone for the game session... unsure about that. if you split up you might meet at a later date inagme, but he might not want to rejoin your crew... maybe due to bad memories *hehe*

as buck said you can't really release them in port but if you are in a harbour or anchored somewhere and you "throw them overboard" it counts as free them.

Also to keep slaves as replacement for fallen crew might drag the morale over time if you play a good captain not sure on that one... but truely an honest captain doesn't believe in slavery so...

thanks Joe. I've resigned myself to moor mister Lawrence on a tartane somewhere until further notice. I will try and reach out to him now that more ships surrender and he can have another chance at happiness ;)

if he still pouts, he can stay on the tartane indefinitely! i have no problems keeping my crew of cutthroats happy now, even being a good guy myself!.

Ahh Peace at last... You know there is a more effective way to handle Mister Lawrence- :walkplank. Don't you just love this game?!

oh buck what a way to play sounds familiar did that as well but as honest captain one should not do such things *smile* But sir, A bloody assasin simply does not care what others think , We sail the seas looking for loot-:sail We plunder-:pirates and drink-:rumgone. Simple as that. I love what I do, I sell slaves, Pretend to escort ships then plunder them where nobody can see, I ransom Prisoners, and give no quarters. Its Fun You should try it some time. ;)

Well Captain Dagger while you typed all of that I've plundered 3 tartans killed all crew, a sloop, spared them and let em go-Dangit , got my rep raised up I'll have to fix that, 2 brigantines filled with my favorite cargo-Gold! :dance, a schooner, killed all crew, a Barquentine Took 56 slaves and sugar and sails, another schooner, and raided Fort Orange, sweet, sweet gold. :D Tis IS the pirates life! Try it Captain Dagger! By the way to punder all of those ships and raid a town took a hour or two.
